Jet may have received a few annoyed glances from the guards. They didnât appreciate being mocked and tormented, by a human too.
âReally?â Genii laughed at Jet as they reached the bottom of the stairs. In front of them were two tall wooden doors, featuring strange battling beasts. Callan gave an order and several soldiers heaved them open.
âIn here.â Callan said, gesturing for Genii and the others to enter.
Inside was a large room furnished in tapestries, portraits and hunting trophies. Candles hung from the ceiling and walls and there was a wide open fireplace, giving the large hall a somewhat cosy feel.
In the centre of the room was a long wooden table lined with seating for fifty or more, though only the top half had been dressed for the occasion.
Servants and maids were busy rushing around laying down dishes and jugs where they could squeeze them in - there wasnât much space due to the sheer amount of food that was on display.
Roasted ham, chicken, lamb, beef and fish. Elaborately decorated crust-topped pies. Steaming vegetables, soups and stews. Towers of cheese, breads and exotic fruits. There were even desserts - cakes, cherry topped tarts, biscuits, pastries, jellies and sweets.
It was a pretentious amount of food, far more than the group could eat in one sitting.
Geniiâs lower jaw appeared to have come unhinged as he stood staring at it all.
There was no sign of the Regent or Erras yet. Callan went and stood at the head of the table, beside a large high backed chair.
