Here's Flare! (He was going to be part of a webcomic I was working on, but it got a bit too big for me to handle, so I put in on hold for the time being.)
Summary
Bio:
The hot headed leader of the new Dragoon team and former captain of the Solus Guard currently sent on vacation to the town of Kidemanos by order of Queen Windetta. Flare often tries to put up the front of a cool, indifferent teenager when in reality, he has massive anxiety issues and will often crack under large amounts of pressure. He’s very hot-headed, quick to anger, and prone to becoming bent out of shape at the slightest thing. His anger stems from a wellspring of self-esteem issues regarding many things like anxiety, body image, and identity issues. He’ll often try to play tough to save face and seem above it all, which often leads to many not liking him. He is a prodigy in regards to combat and strategy back at the Sky Knight academy back at his home of Dawn Metropolis and quickly rose to the top of his class there However, he gets very little respect from his peers due to his abrasive, smug, and angry attitude. He also is very unhappy with his current situation due to his love of work and the supposed incompetence of his Dragoon team. Despite this, he deeply cares for his squad mates and deeply respects them and works with them to help improve their own particular skillsets. Despite his very active lifestyle and constant use of a very large sword, he still has a very scrawny physique, especially when compared to other companions, which leads to him being very insecure about his own body. He also has a very mysterious past, with many people noting that he was found by Queen Windetta’s elite guards wandering around the deserts of Magnum Zeishun saving various villages from attacks with a sword commonly used by the (currently sealed away at that point) Netherworlders with very little memory of where he came from or how he got there. Despite all this baggage however, Flare has a very strong sense of morality and justice and will fight hard for what he truly believes is right and off the clock is kind of mellow, if almost lethargic and a bit grumpy. However, he is often overzealous on his methods and will often resort to violence as a first solution to his problems. However, he is surprisingly well read and versed in many different cultures with a respect for authority, making him somewhat good at diplomacy with other kingdoms.
Powers:
Above average physical condition (Strong enough to hold up at least a stone pillar with some effort.)
Pyrokinesis (Fire Magic)
Forcefield projection
Adept at swordplay and other melee weapons
Immunity to dark magic and energy
Wields the sword Nethersbane, a special sword that can absorb elemental energy and release it back (usually by catching fire) and was specially forged to slay dark creatures, can also be used as a hoverboard and shield along with being able to return to him when it's thrown or separated from him.
Access to the Red Dragoon armor, a specialized suit of living power armor that can adapt to situations and its user as well as having an onboard AI assistant named Bahamut.
A flintlock pistol that can shoot plasma bolts as well as the ability to turn his arms into flame cannons.
Has two special finishing moves he can activate by overcharging himself: Blazing Breaker (A powerful fiery wave launched from Nethersbane) and Dragon Drop (A move only used in his armor where he surrounds himself in a fiery dragon-shaped aura and charges the opponent, sometimes delivering a powerful dive kick as well.)
Excellent Strategist
Can absorb fire and heat energy to enhance his own flame powers. (Although absorbing too much of it can result in an explosive backlash.)
Can dual wield Nethersbane with a smaller fire sword if needed.
Weaknesses:
Works better with a team than fighting one-on-one.
Not very skilled at hand-to-hand combat, ranged weapons, or advanced fire magic.
Hot headed, will fall back on the brute force approach if his other plans fail and tends to be ruled by his emotions more often than not.
Fire magic burns through energy supplies very quickly, especially when in his Dragoon Armor. Also his finishers drain a very large amount of energy and he'll be left vulnerable if he misses.
Prone to mindless berserker rages if pushed far enough.
Unwilling to kill, but will do so if he thinks it's necessary.
Forcefields drain a lot of energy and can break if put under too much stress or if hit by an attack he wasn't expecting.
Red Dragoon Armor always emits a low-energy coordinate signature that allows magically-attuned beings both friend and foe to know his location.
Can't transform into his armor without his D-Reader (A specialized cellphone that houses his Dragoon Armor.)
Nethersbane can't return to him if too far away.
Vulnerable to water, earth, lightning, or light based magic.
And what they hey, let's throw in Selena as well for a later match!
Summary
Bio: Boisterous, boastful, and blustery, Selena has all the power and presence of a hurricane packed into a small, fluffy body. She's feisty and has a lot of energy, but is also quite posh, well-mannered, and sophisticated as well. She has a strong sense of justice, a motherly and caring personality, and a good and gentle heart, always willing to give out comfort and a good hug when needed. She dreams and fantasizes about being a comic-book style superhero and that it is the main reason for her boisterous personality and desire to protect others.
Abilities:
Skilled with magic in general.
Specializes in water and weather magic.
Well-read and knowledgable in various subjects.
Abnormally strong for her size.
Wears the Blue Dragoon armor similar to Flare's Bahamut armor, except the AI is named Lorelei.
Made of water: can dodge attacks easily, nearly invisible when in water, can transform into either ice or clouds (and other weather related phenomena) and can shrink or grow in size depending on how much water she absorbs or releases.
Excellent swimmer: Naturally at home in the water and can survive underwater for a lengthy period of time due to her ability to breathe underwater.
Hurricane Breath: Can exhale strong gusts of wind that can be either superheated or at freezing temperatures as well as being capable of inhaling with similar force. Can also exhale powerful jets of water.
Has both a magic wand and a trident that can shoot lightning bolts or channel her elemental magic.
Has a special finishing attack called the Tidal Tempest where she traps the opponent in a miniature hurricane of water and clouds before diving in and slashing them with her trident.
Weaknesses:
Not very skilled in hand-to-hand combat or weapons based combat.
Magic and armor drain energy (though not as fast as Flare's does) Finisher drains large amounts of energy.
Emotional: Can be moody or prone to anger.
Overconfident: Loves to brag and bluster about her abilities.
Can be locked into either her ice form or cloud form if in extreme conditions. Size changing has similar location-based problems.
Can get lost in her own fantasies and daydreams of being a superhero in the middle of serious situations.
Vulnerable to nature, lightning, earth, or extreme temperature based magic.
