Tapas is so much better than Webtoon [rant]

I agree with you that Tapas is so much better when it comes to recovering accounts.

Sorry to hear that your losing all of your Views and subscribers.

I was never in good terms on Webtoon, although you have so much more on Webtoon, mine is on the other way around, maybe because they are heavily more focus on romance while my comic is more on lore building. Its clear I receive more views and subscribers on Tapas about 4 times bigger than on Webtoon which force me to leave it and focus only on Tapas.

They really need to fix that account problem or else Webtoon is going to melt away slowly but surely.

So yeah I need to change to a different email. The email I used is being retired soon. (Which is another frustrating story in itself) So I figure I either need to change to a different google account, or be able to log in with email and password. But there was no option on the site to change the log in method.

The funny part is that my primary email on there is a different email that I could use, but from what I see, there's no way to get a password...It seems on that email, I just get notifs about subbed comics updating, so I don't think it's connected to the login at all.

Hopefully this make sense.

Edit: Just now I tried to do a password recovery for that primary email and it said the email is not registered. UGH. I'm just...grrrr.

Yeah, it seems one can't change anything about log-in. Email only changes for where you get notifications, not how to log in. This is something really bad implementation for creators in case an email is indeed been deleted for some reason or onr loses access to it, which happen to an old email I had and it locked me out of my youtube account actually.

Which I could help, maybe google has a migration system (as in move everything from old email to new one). I'll check and let you know if I find anything that might help that way.

You could ask if you can make another account and they transfer the data to your account.
I'm a programmer, so it should be possible. I'm only not sure if its ok with their privacy policy.
So.. you must ask.
To change the email adress is truly a thing that could not function when the email is a key in their database.
But normally you should never make the mail the primary key, because of some changes.
So ask first: Is the email-adress the primary key or not? then the programmer/admin of the system can change your email/login-method.
if not, ask the second thing: Can you transfer my data to [insert new account]?

I'm pretty sure that the customer service can't answer your questions and that they must ask engeneers. Then you get a right answer and not such a half guessed answer hope it helps

Let us know if it works well, they should indeed have a one time transfer that you can do each say 6 (or once a year) if they are afraid of people constantly transferring accounts (or selling it forward for some reason).

A long time ago before I even started posting my comic, my webtoon account was locked for some reason. I didn't know why. Every time I tried to sign in, I couldn't.

So I changed my password, but it still wouldn't work.

I contacted support about it, they didn't get back to me until months later. After multiple attempts to fix the problem failed, I asked them if they would just delete my account all together so I could just make it again.

They finally did after a year...

It turns out Webtoon's email sign-in was (at least was at the time) case-sensitive... That's all the problem was. Such a simply fix that took over a year to figure out.

Ya know it's funny. When I started my comic I began posting to both Webtoon and Tapas simultaneously. Naive as I was, I assumed that Tapas was the older more well-established site just because it was so much more polished. It wasn't until much later that I found out Webtoon is actually the older more established site.

Yeah I actually posted only to tapas at first. I heard that the commenters on Webtoon can be rude, and it wasn't worth it, but then one day I decided to give it a try and I had so much more interactions.

Also as a general update on everything, I messaged Webtoon yesterday. Interestingly, the first time I messaged them, they got back to me later that night. Now it's taking much longer, so I wonder if they're ignoring me now 0_0

Edit: Got a reply. They said they will look into it, but did not give any solutions. They also said it may take them longer to get back to me so... we will see what happens.

I've come to despise webtoon in the recent years. Every time I tried putting my comic up in there, it gets zero to no views and the last time it didn't even show up on the search bar!
I talked to their support (which is in fact actual garbage) and after TWO WEEKS, they answered me and told me to WAIT MORE. That was in MARCH, mind you.
So that's it. I gave up on webtoon because their site is not only broken, but their support also couldn't give less than one.

Ahh that's too bad. Thankfully my email doesn't get retired until November, so I think what I may do is put an update post on my comics, directing everyone to the new account. I'm hoping Webtoon will help me, but I won't be holding my breath either.

Side question... if the login is through google doesn't that mean you can go on to google's settings to change permissions and passwords for sites...?
I'd honestly email the support again if I'm not answered within 3 business days.

Edit: so I did check google and I can unlink from webtoon but...I'm scared that I'd never be able to get into my account ever again if I did that...

that means if you change your google password, it'll change for webtoons and then you should be able to log in hopefully
