@BellaTheCow You approach the shrine warily, passing under the gates without bowing. A fox crosses your path. Paying you no mind, it pads along on its black furred paws without a care in the world. The sight of the bell spurs you forward, and you think that if you could ring it just once, you might escape the terrible fate that you will soon be met with. You pass the well absentmindedly, fixed totally on the bell and fine silk sash hanging from it. The sound of ragged, heavy breathing sends shivers down your spine. You know the creature is there, but you know not where, and it seems as if your only hope of release is that old bell hanging limp from sagging poles. At last you reach it, but the bell provides none of the comfort that you had envisioned. Perhaps if you had a knowledge of Shinto customs... But alas, it is not to be. In frustration, you wrap the silk around and around, winding it tighter and tighter. Your feet lift off the ground, and the bell clanks loudly through the forest. There is no escape. After all, what can be done when the thing that hunts you is yourself?
