Tapas why word-limit 😭

I have some chapters in the 3-4k word range and because of that, I have to split them up. But that means my chapter numbers don't match with the sidebar!

The word limits are there to prevent reader fatigue. Tapas is a "casual reader" type of platform, where people read stories a little bit at a time. Too long a chapter may prevent people from reading the whole thing. Also, many people have the attention span of a golden retriever on meth (I am one of those people) and shorter episodes help one finish reading the whole thing before running off chasing squirrels

A agree, word limits are necessary, but in my oppinion the limit should have been set a bit higher. Right now we have a character limit of 15k, personally I would consider 20k as optimal limit.

Talk about word-limit. I´ve noticed something strange. When publishing the episodes I had to watch out to stay under 15k characters. Now I´ve noticed that some episodes are showing to have 15,2k characters without me editing the episodes. Is this normal?

Tapas started as Tapastic with the moto "bite sized chapters"

It is known for chapters between 500-1000 words for their exclusive works, as well.

It'll be for the best in terms of your readership. You'll certainly grow more with shorter episodes. If you want to group them together as chapters, then just list episodes as "Chapter 1, Part 1," "Chapter 1, Part 2", etc.

Shorter episodes will also help you maintain consistency in uploads, which is another big key to growth.
