It would be super cool if Tapastic had its own convention featuring its comic creators and the writers from the stories on their app! Has there ever been talks of a convention? What are your guys' thoughts?

That would be kinda cool. I'd like to meet fellow comic creators in real life. It'd also be cool to see what kind of panels would be there.

Honestly, I think "meet ups" are a lot more likely considering...Tapastic isn't actually that big! The web comic community as a whole probably isn't big enough to support an entire convention, but could probably manage like a section at an already existing convention (like a comic con or an anime con) or meet ups. There are a good number of us, but honestly not enough in one area to gather an entire convention's worth of people? I mean... Tumblr's massive and look how...Dash Con...came out (Granted, I like to think the people of Tapastic are a bit more organized than that).
I do know San Francisco (where Tapastic is head quartered) does hold some comic conventions, and it would be really cool if maybe there could be a meet up planned there for Tapastic artists or something, since there's already a gathering of comic artists there. It'd probably be better exposure for Tapastic than if they held their own convention, because most people would go "What's a Tapastic?" when they hear "Tapastic convention," mean while, if there was a Tapastic meet up at something like San Fran Comic Con or Silicon Valley Comic Con, people would figure "Oh, Tapastic must be something about comics" in a space that already has a heavy interest in comics.

I was at a con in Leeds recently and hunted down at least three or four Tapastic artists tabling there. I'd definitely come to a con of our own if I could manage it.

Yeah, I think the biggest thing would be deciding where to have it! Off the top of my head, we have creators from Canada, every part of the US, Chile, Sweden, Australia, lots from the UK -- whereas I have trouble justifying the travel cost from the eastern coast to the western coast of the US for a con unless I think it's gonna be a SUPER profitable con.

So you could probably get a meet-up of Tapastic creators in the area, and a Tapastic meet-up at an existing convention that a lot of Tapas folks are gonna be at might work really well! But it'd be tough to get a majority of creators to travel a long way to a brand new (untested) convention unless you were paying their way.

I think webcomic meet-ups or conventions SHOULD be a thing since you get to meet people within your circle, and it helps promote a usually neglected corner of the pop culture community. (In big cons for example, webcomic artists tend to be scattered and no way would they get panels) But starting small would be ideal methinks

I live on a tiny island in the middle of nowhere so for me to go anywhere costs an arm and a leg, but I would still try something if the price is right.

I think Tapastic does do some smaller cons in California (I remember seeing pictures of their table some time ago). I live in NYC so it would be near impossible for me to go there right now. But New York has tons of smaller comic cons throughout the year. I don't know about a full Tap Con (though I do think there would be enough people to fill a space), but if Tap had a table at MoCCA or something that would be cool.

A bunch of creators could stop by the table, hangout in the food area. We could exchange ideas. For now, we could still meet up with people with they live nearby.

The problem, as with tumblr or any other website, is that the community is from all around the world. And a lot of it, underage people or hobbist that can't afford the trip

Once upon a time, a whole bunch of us creators met in Boston.

We're going to try and do it again in 2017!

1- Tapastic is as big.
2- Distance.
These are just two reasons why its not possible

!! That sounds SO cool, I would definitely aim to go to this /)'<'(\ I gotta save money

This is exactly what I mean it should be done, this is awesome!

I will let you know when we've finalized anything.

Where do you live, btw?

Please do, thank you!

I live in Puerto Rico, about a 2-hour flight from Florida

I would absolutely love to go to a tapastic con, or would love to see a tapastic stall / area of an existing convention (which I think would make a bit more sense to be honest). Though, Theres no chance that it would be located in the north west of England, so getting to it would be hard! XD maybe some day!

that would be cool, but maybe a little hard to do, logistically, since tapastic creators and readers are spread out around the world - there'd have to be a collection of them
