Tapastic's Support vs Patreon: Abuse & Loopholes

Hey guys, I had no idea Tapastic even had a support program until recently. I was wondering if it has issues like Pateon's giant loophole, where people will sign up as a patron, download all the digital rewards and then withdraw their support before being charged for it. Does Tapastic have any areas for abuse like that, or is it more secure? In addition, what are people's general experience with Tapastic's support program vs Patreon?

This is a really good question. I recently heard about people scamming creators on Patreon. How low can some people go?

I'm considering starting up the Support Program on Tapastic, and this is something I've also considered. I'm sorry I don't have a definitive answer for you other than from what I've heard, there's been no complaints. I hope you receive some more in depth answer, because I would also like to know.

It really depends on what kind of perks you're offering and how you deliver them. For me, my one major perk is access to a dropbox folder with extra sketches and stuff. I share a link with my supporters and if they keep it, they can look at the folder any time. So if they drop their support and still have the link, they can still look. But that doesn't really bother me, the really good stuff I save for my milestone rewards, because by then they've already paid.

I'm gonna join in with catfish and question how low some people can go. That's horrible. I was under the impression Patreon would take the first support payment the moment you sign up to contribute towards the artist's goals and only after you can cancel. But gee, if that's not the case..

Apparently the other issue is that Patreon lacks a block feature. So the same people keep doing it and creators with a large number following have immense difficulty keeping track. I gotta say I'm not too impressed with Patreon so far. I was locked out of my original account. Despite the attached address having recieved a confirmation email from patreon, the staff insisted the email wasn't in the system. In the mean time, some people had pledged to that account and I couldn't even access it.

I was confused as to whether or not to use the Support program or to use Patreon. I honestly never knew something like this was going on at Patreon, though sadly I'm not surprised. I guess I'm going to be going with the Support program here instead.
