Eeeeee! My turn!
This was a lot of fun to participate in, and also a lot less pressure than last year's holiday event, for which I - who was juggling approximately all of the things at once when working on this - was infinitely grateful.
Tapastic isn't letting me upload images directly to the forums, so I'll stick to nerd-babbling about tiny details in this panel:
It's become kind of a thing for me to include as many regionally specific things as possible in holiday comics and pictures. Last year, I put burning straw goats in my Winter Fest-episode (holiday arson - it's a Swedish thing). This year, I went with advent candles and some gingerbread figures - one little gingerbread person, and tucked underneath, a tiny gingerbread pig. (are gingerbread pigs a thing in other countries?)
Advent candles are lit each of the four Advent Sundays leading up to Christmas Eve (which is the day Swedes celebrate), gingerbread and mulled wine is had, and we let the candles burn and try to pretend that the country we live in isn't covered in chilly perma-darkness.
I considered giving Akane a St Lucia crown, but went with a small santa-hat instead, as I was always a santa in the St Lucia Day-processions when I was a little girl. =)
