"Thank you for Subscribing" pictures, the general consensus?

on some comic sites I'm on, it's considered rude to send people "thank you for subscribing" images, but it seems to be a very common thing on this website.

is it acceptable to do on here, and if it is, is it a good form of advertising? do you get annoyed when people send you thank you images?

I don't know why it would be considered "rude" anywhere at all, especially since it really does get challenging writing thanks and making them distinct. An image is often more precious than words, and often it becomes difficult to make words feel special, even if they are special -- even if you feel genuine gratitude for a subscription, these words of thanks sound similar to others because there are only so many ways to say thank you.

Personally I feel that whether it's in words or in image form, I'm happy someone is taking the time to thank me for my subscription. Whatever the medium, it doesn't make it less sincere.

I FEEL YOU, I had a similar impression of them on other sites, but here they're usually considered thoughtful and fun as long as they don't take up too much wall space! Lots of people are really happy to get them, and it's a great way to reach out to your readers!

There are some people who prefer not to get them, so I have a note in my profile saying "let me know if you don't want one" and I always check others' profiles to make sure they don't have a note saying they'd rather not get them, but I've always gotten a positive response. : > (I haven't gotten any on my own wall yet, though)

I started thanking people for subscribing fairly recently after a forum topic on Tapastic talked about the same thing, and so far I've had nothing but nice messages from the people who do reply to the thank you posts =) it's a nice bit of advertising, and gives me a chance to see what kind of readers I'm attracting.

Well lately i've been sending my thank you note via private message so that I don't take up space on a creator's wall. I'm okay with the thank you messages specially when the author took time to customize it. But people are all different, there are some who likes it, some who are okay with it, some who gets annoyed, and some who really hates it. If you find it rude then you can just simply delete it from your wall.

I think they are a really cute way to thank for subscribing! I like getting them (it's almost like collectible cards, haha), and sometimes I browse through them on someone else's wall to find new comics c; it also tells me that an author cares for readers, because they noticed that they got another subscriber and managed to find some time to thank them.

I personally feel a little dissapointing when I susbs to a new comic and I don´t get the "thank you" pic XD.

I didn't know that was a thing, until I started subbing to things. Then I felt bad because I wasn't doing it as a thank you to folks who have subbed to my comic.

I wonder if I should go back and add thank you images to people's boards??

Holy cow I had no idea! I missed these threads. Thank you for linking them, Shazz. For me, the thank you notes are amazing. I love to receive them and share them! Ive received so many wonderful comments and had great convos from readers and creators thanks to them! Before coming to Tapastic I'd never seen any type of thank you notes left on walls and I just jumped into it!

The most important thing is that I've found my favorite comics thanks to looking at the thanks you pics on my readers walls!! Long live the Thank You image!!

Yup, I wasn't sending them but I quickly jumped on the bandwagon with my own images to thank subscribers and I have gotten nothing but positive feedback from them! So color me as part of the consensus here. Do I get a special merit badge for having a thank you image?

I was posting thank you images pretty consistently up to 50 subscribers... and sorta stopped doing it because some of those subs UN sub'd! (perhaps they were book marking-- so on the off chance that people are, I stopped). My subs are at a good number to back track and post thank yous, but I'm not sure if my subs would want them at them point (because it's been a while since they sub'd).

Was thinking of making special ones, so readers can ask for a fav character or something

Personally, I love getting the Thank You Subs image! Even though I know its barely any contact from the creators, I like getting them. Its kind of the same as card collecting. Its fun to collect them.

I believe "Thank You" pictures are generally accepted here, as long as they are simply that.

I love getting "Thanks for subscribing" pictures on my wall, but I have also gotten a couple postings of "Check out my comic." Those are not cool.

The Thank You drawings are a very nice, subtle way of advertising your comic (and a great way to discover new ones!), but a post on a random person's wall of a blatant "subscribe to my comic, please" is too much and is just annoying.

I've got no opinion about getting them, just wanna read the comic. But as far as giving them out, ideally I'd like to give customized 'thank you' drawings, but I hardly have the time to even work on pages. For a while I sent messages, but then I lost track of things, so I feel the best way is to share a general thank you with the people who've subbed.
