I'd like to bring up also the mastery of Canadian animation through the 70s and 80s, not just "The Street", but three other awesome animated short films that, in one way or another, present animation techniques that paved the way for the future.
"The Cat Came Back"
Mew! This is still one of the most hilarious short cartoons ever made. It's not just the situation, where an old man tries every means possible to get rid of a nasty cat, but it's the animation itself that really wins. Nominated for an Oscar in 1988.
"Charade"
A hilarious gem! A terrific example of animorph techniques and seamless transformations as a man tries to get his friends to figure out the answers to his charades - with mind-bending results.
A favorite of mine, "Charade" won the Oscar in 1984 for best short animation. And I hope you'll agree, it was well deserved.
"The Sweater"
I howl laughing at this one every time, as one of the best novelists in Quebec, Roch Carrier, a die-hard Montreal Canadians hockey fan, re-tells the hilarious story of of his shame and chagrin over accidentally receiving a Toronto Maple Leafs sweater by mistake as a child.
A gorgeous bit of animation that not only weaves plenty of humorous scenes, but happily glorifies why Canada is so crazy about hockey. ![ ](https://forums.tapas.io/images/emoji/emoji_one/smiley.png?v=3)
