New bitching thread huh? Regardless of what the mods decide to do with it, I just need to get something off of my chest.
Twice now I have failed my driver's license test which after the one I took today, I'm convinced its not so much me as it is how overly critical the DMV is when it comes to giving the test. I know this because when I've driven with my folks, I drive like a personal chauffeur according to them and I know for a fact I do too because of how much they hammered into my brain that I need to be a cautious and mindful driver above all else. And now that I'm on the subject of the DMV, I seem to recall now that when I took the "written" test (it was actually done on a computer, but whatever) several years ago to get my learner's permit, I failed it a few times before I finally did well enough to pass not because I didn't study, but because I'm simply not a good test taker. Period.
Anyway, after I failed (though I did better than last time), the lady refused to let me take another test until next freaking month which sucked because I wanted to have my driver's license so I could start driving myself to work and thus start working more hours and because I don't know when a family member from my dad's side will be able to come down here and sell me an old car of his he offered me at a good price since I also wanted to have my license by then since that was kind of the unspoken rule when we made a deal that worked out for both of us.
But I can have the last laugh now because I figured on the drive back that perhaps my mother was right when she said that maybe I'm not meant to be one of those people who drive and in fact, with how much of a drain on your finances it can be simply owning a car what with both insurance and a note you need to continuously pay off once a month, I reckon that I can simply save the money I had worked for at my real life job for both insurance and the aforementioned car and instead put a small portion of it towards Uber rides anytime I really want to go or need to go somewhere what with the internet making it easy to handle all your financial expenses online including yes, groceries. In the meantime, I can simply keep having my folks drive me to work since that's how its going to have be now that I know the DMV is very stingy about who they give a driver's license to.
tl;dr Giving up on getting my driver's license doesn't bother me in the slightest like it might have when I was younger since I know there are plenty of workarounds for not having your own car and honestly, its actually for the best all things considered the way I see it.
And on a side note, it puzzled me for the longest time how all these daredevils and general shitty drivers you see on the road were allowed to have a license (assuming its not an illegal one), but after today, I figured maybe they were actually role model students when they took their test, but after that, they decided to ditch the charade and go hog wild like they are in a Fast & The Furious film.
