Oh wow, someone other than me watches indie animation series? I thought I was in some secret dweeb club.
I didn't think too much into it. The lore is interesting, it keeps me entertained. I can't comment too much on the whole disability thing, being a fully able-bodied person, but I didn't see any anti-disabled messages. Sure, some of the other characters were dicks, but they're wild animals that rely on being able to hunt to survive. Of course they're going to be dicks. Again though, take that with a grain of salt since I'm hyper privileged in that aspect.
I thought the voice acting was hammy, but it didn't bother me too much since it's an indie series, you can't expect pro acting. The only real criticism is the lack of mouth animations, and how they just have characters mouths agape to indicate talking is distracting, especially during high emotions scenes with the open mouth doesn't match the emotions. Although I can understand them not putting work into lip flaps since that would take more time and effort, but I think it would have been better to just not move them at all, and use a telepathic type of communication or something.
Some of the character designs are also a bit "Deviant Art Lion King OC", but they're not too bad.
Overall not too bad for a tiny, adultish, cartoon series. It's always impressive to see smalltime animation groups accomplishing large tasks like this, and I'm interested in seeing where season 2 goes.
