The whole issue on NSFW and similar works has been a debate that has baffled me for years.
I've been reading NSFW and 18+ BL comics since I was a teenager, and I admit that I occasionally took volumes with me to school while I was in high school to read and pass the time during lunch and between classes (there was a whole group of just fujoshi - consisting of me and several girlfriends - who get together and read both softcore and hardcore BL comics). However, there were a few girls who constantly worried that we would all get arrested because we were bringing "porn" to school. In the end the teachers didn't care - as to them comics and manga were a kids thing and didn't get on their radar unless we made it a distraction - but the underlying fear was always there.
To me, when it comes to NSFW and "porn" with comics I use the cinema approach: they can't show actual genitalia (silhouettes are fine, though, and a flash of boobs is also fine) and when they show sex scenes you see no actual penetration or fluids, while in novels you can get as detailed and grotesque as you want. That's why there are pornographic sites: they show first, second, third base, the whole home run without censors.
Comics and manga are the same way. Whether it's a published manga or a personal doujinshi, when a sex scene appears there are censors in the forms of bars, pixilation of the image or the infamous "glowing dick", but you cannot show the genitals full on or else it is labeled as "porn" or erotica.
This is just my opinion on the issue. Everyone's opinion is different and that is a-okay.
