I totally get what OP is talking about, my comic isn't exclusively a romance, it's just most of the characters happen to be queer. Heck, it opens with two guys getting married. So.. lmao

I feel you, and relate with many storys here. For me personally its not a big thing in my life, I dont even know what my label would be lol, there is just so many categorys nowadays and I have never liked being labeled anyway, and my stories are much the same.
It is not the focus of my stories but there will always be characters that are withing the spectrum of LGBT+ because that is what life is, some might not be obvious at all and people will never know, some will show eventually, and maybe some will be obvious

My comic woodward has almost an entirely queer cast, but the story doesn't actually focus on their identities other than introducing pronouns.

Honestly I'm a huge fan of this thread cause I really love comics with queer characters where their queerness is just... naturally part of the story? Idk how to say it, but I love stories with lgbtq mc's in world's where there's no queerphobia to be found. Love that for them. (not to say stories realistically based on peoples experience with bad stuff don't have merit! I just need some escapism)

Both of my comics have LGBTQ+ characters, but in none of them it's the main focus of the story. There are romantic relationships, but also other stuff involved.

Most of my characters are LGBT but I don’t make a huge deal about it. It’s just part of life like anything else.

I've got multiple stories that have to do with LGBT+ matter: one a romance, the other has romance as a far background thing.
Genre: High Fantasy LGBT+ Romance/Drama

Genre: Low Fantasy Magic College Slice of Life +POC LGBT MC

Oooh, I like this thread! A good half of the characters of The Emergency Coven are LGBTQ+, but romance is definitely not the main focus of the story: for example, my character Jorn (who is going to make his first appearance in the story later today) is bisexual, but you're not really going to see it for quite some time... there will be other couples and characters whose orientation/identity is going to be more obvious, though!

One thing I feel I should point out, however, is that there will also be some heavier themes (e.g. characters who have been bullied for their sexual orientation, toxic relationships -both straight and homosexual- and so on), so handle with care, okay? °°

this is a super interesting thread because I've been thinking the same thing

many, maybe even the majority, of characters in my comic are lgbt+, but the comic is generally unserious and the lore isn't explored because of the nature of the comic. plus, the main character, Vainglory, is pansexual and polyamorous, but is also diagnosably hypersexual. although I know that pansexual =/= hypersexual, if you don't know I know that, it can come off as sort of a bad look, so I'm sometimes hesitant to share it in lgbt+ spaces even though the comic (and especially the extended lore) is very much oriented towards exploring non-heteronormative romance.

ideally, the real nature of the canon will become obvious when I begin to publish my longer comic with the same characters in the same universe - fewer gags, more romance-drama. in the meantime, funnee d&d characters curse a lot

I've felt the sae because most of the LGBT content doesn't come in until later chapters on that note If you like slice of life and a bit of mystery My comic TLC might be up your alley!

The comic is about a young girl that gets kicked out of an orphanage for her unpredictable powers and ends up getting taken in by a shapeshifter into a mish-mashed adopted family. she has to learn what it means to be herself, be part of a family, and uncover whatever the family's butler is hiding before its too late!

The comic has got aspects of modern fantasy, mystery, found family, slice of life and LGBT themes (mostly i later chapters). I'd probably rate it at PG-13 (specific Pages with PG-13 content are flagged as such in the episode tittles as well)
