I just had this idea after spending the last week struggling with low confidence my work. This is a sort of counterbalance to the 'Critique Community Thread'. We post online and maybe some of us do manage to reach a decent sized audience, or even some reach beyond and they can live off their work. However our audiences are comprised of people from all walks of life, we're lucky to find artists in it who either have the ability or time to give in-depth feedback. I don't just mean what we did wrong, but what we did right. Only receiving "what you do wrong" critique, no matter how positive and well intended it is, over time it can lead us into the dumps or even changing the things we do correctly.
More than just "Whoa, nice!", post your work here and tell others in depth what you think they're doing right and what they absolutely should continue doing. This one has straight forward rules:
- You get what you give (tit for tat model)
- Be genuine
- Don't spam (Either collect multiple posts into one comment or space multiple comments over a few days.)
- No one word/ shallow compliments
In layman's terms this means posting a lot of art and not giving much if any feedback in return will result in the community more or less ignoring you. Give the creators in-depth feedback of what you like or enjoy about their work and some encouragement, if possible. This is still a critique thread, it just focuses on the things the creator is doing correctly and why.
I specify creator because writers are welcomed to post too, (as they are in the community critique thread.)
