We've had movies who's sole points are to say "guys, this is important in later movies! (Ant Man & Marvels specifically) The Infinity Saga was a compelling arc. People wanted to see what's next. Now that it's done, people still go to hero movies, it's just now they go specifically because they want to see a story they care about (GotG 3, Spiderverse, etc.)
