I hired an artist to storyboard a small sample comic. Now I'm doing line art & starting flats. Been many many hours, but I think this is turning out well. She did such an amazing job and I love her style.

I'm excited to finally be past the line art phase and now into thr flats stage.

Technically not a sketch (or maybe it is? Since I've decided to not take my webcomic pages past the "colored sketch" stage?) but a sneak peek of my re-drawn prologue! I'm adding 3 pages and re-drawing some details to set up the story better before I launch into my next chapter.

When I first started this comic, the thought of a page like this gave me heart palpitations. It took me days to figure out the layout of the engine room and I was not looking forward to designing the rest of the cabin... Working through 206 pages of my pitch really helped put the fear of interior design to rest, haha.

Drawing this I had an epiphany. I has never been good with hair, but magically after making some lines to see if I could match the '40s hair style of Phantom Lady (Sandra Knight) I understood what to do! I am afraid to try to do it again and don't unterstand what is the trick =P

Anyway, a question for people who draws NSFW. I want to learn. Not that I gonna be drawing a comic with sex scenes, but for anatomy reasons only its a good enough reason to be able to draw NSFW, so, is there any suggestion? Not that YouTube have tutorials on that. Maybe some books, really, but I need somethingn more immediate before hitting the books. My guess is going to some porn sites and do some life drawings, or doing a lil comic using an AO3 or Nifty script until getting the hang of it -but I feel awkward only thinking and writing this. Any suggestion to be less awkward? How to proceed on this?

As for the NSFW suggestions:

For started google searches, I'd put keywords in there like "elegant," "classy," or "erotic" in the search as they're more likely to give you art with a purpose and less likely to offer anything too fierce or lamely male-gaze-serving. Glamour had a good article on Instagram artists to follow under the headline "Erotic Art: 11 Instagram Artists With Amazing Sexy Talents-" so you can start there and go down the various similar artist rabbit holes.

For Books, "Joy of Sex" is solid with the illustrations/anatomy. I'm sure there are others like it that could serve as a good resource.

For the awkwardness- I'd say either own your awkwardness (cause it's fine to be so) or just find the joy in doing this artistic practice. There is a long, storied history of art revolving around this aspect of life, so you're in great company. If you want a fun diversion, though- the book "Queer Ducks" is super fun and a whole other way at looking at nature and copulation. It's silly and great and puts things in perspective quite nicely.

Thank you very much for your suggestions!! The keywords are so useful! Absolutely male-servicing has been one of my worries, as I pretend to add some feeling to the drawings, not just porn xd. In fact, adding feelings to my drawings has been always an issue, so I thought that going to the extreme would help to bring that to the normal situations drawings, to make them look less stiff, as life drawings of normal people is still lacking emotion imo.

Just trying to place two people so close together is hard enough. And yeah it really makes you scratch your head because then you start looking closely into anatomy and oooh boi scapulas just make me so angy lol

I have already tried some drawings -that I can't post here either- and after searching some tutorials for genitalia, I could do some decent things! Still working on it, to make it interesting, like, alright that's is the image, but how to do it an interesting drawing, but I am working on it. Also, why is harder to find tutorials on female genitalia? Male genitalia it took me 2 seconds to find a good enough tutorial. Female, I had to go to a reddit clandestine thread for 8 images of a tutorial that is incomplete.
