The Thin is about Aidan Carr, a young man in Maylem, struggling with severe depression and isolation. While navigating early in his own mental health recovery through therapy, Aidan becomes a masked vigilante known as The Thin. His motivation stems from the trauma of his mother being accidentally shot by a gang tied to the corrupt and cultish antagonist who calls himself Vandal. The justice system fails to hold these criminals accountable, so Aidan takes matters into his own hands.
As The Thin, Aidan uses his eerie, gothic-inspired persona to strike fear into wrongdoers, but his actions come with inner conflict. He’s torn between his desire for justice, to take Vandal and his little criminal cult down entirely and the fear that he’s becoming just like the people he’s fighting against. Throughout the story, Aidan must balance his commitment to therapy and recovery while grappling with the temptation to lean on The Thin as a tool of justice, fear and a dangerous coping mechanism.
