NOT A PROMOTION THREAD. Please pay attention to the rules or your reply will be deleted

So, I'm here again, Tapas.

My promotion thread has gotten 50 links but half of them haven't been clicked on (so annoying!). So, here's a book club. If you want to join go to The Underated Novels Club and recommend a book then self-promote. We'll be starting from the bottom up and we'll discuss what we liked about the Tapas novels we've recommended... We good?

Good. Great. Promotion threads don't work when everyone is just going there to promote themselves. I've made it my goal to create visibility for the books that deserve it and yet hardly get recognition. I know how depressing obscurity is, especially when you know that you aren't writing trash.

So first The Rules

  • 1. Go to the thread The Underated Novels Club and drop your novel recommendations according to the optimal format (2 recommendations - 1 self promotion).
  • 2. Come back here and see if a novel you've read is in the list (this will be updated biweekly).
  • 3. If yes, participate in the discussion about what you'd like, hate or love to see and where you think the story is going.
  • 4. If no, you can read a few chapters and participate anyway because it won't be nice when no one participates when it's your turn, will it?
  • No spoilers! You can discuss things without ruining it for new readers... right?

Format for discussion:
- Novel being discussed
- Chapter you're at
- Whatever else you want to say
- Link to the book

(Simple right!)

Example:
Novel: Sincerely, Mysterious
Chapter I'm at: 1
I can't anymore. The cringe. Oh my goodness, this book will kill me. I don't want to give any spoilers, but... Can I even give spoilers at Chapter one? Okay, I'm just going to say that you shouldn't eat while reading this or you'll ruin your device. Alright, I'm going to read more, I'll be back when my face stops burning.

This weeks Underated Books:

(I stalked Sincerely, Mysterious all the way from Wattpad and I was really glad when it got featured!)

If you want the author of a book to see your discussion, you have to tag them! Have fun.

I have a few that I'm totally obsessed with...

I LOVE "Soft Touch!" It's a BL story about a guy who can hear people's energy. He can hear the energy of a ghost that no one can see or feel, so he and his ~boyfriend~ (they're adorable) set off to help the ghost.
HOWEVER, that's only like, half the chapters. There's so much else happening, but you really just gotta read it, okay? River is an absolute genius who manages to incorporate every little detail you think has been forgotten!
Seriously, you'd think after 300-something episodes I'd be bored, right? NOPE. I sit and watch my Tapas app and wait for the updates every weekday.

NEXT I love "A Hell Full of Angels." It's about a delinquent who moves to a fancy shmancy school and ends up falling for his roommate. His character development though? chefs kiss
Wednesdays and Saturdays, folks! Keep an eye out!

One of my favorite completed series is called "The Claimed: a Clash of Copper and Gold."
The world that the author built for this story is so crazy and detailed, it makes you feel like you grew up there! However, this story is not for the faint of heart. There are some gruesome details about the political climate of this world as well as some character's traumatic experiences. I definitely think it's worth a try though, and you get a watered down version in the first few chapters of the crazier stuff that happens later. I finished reading it in like, 2 days.

also i'm writing a novel that's kinda good so if you wanna read it that would be awesome okay that's all

Novel: Fair, No Fair
Chapter I'm at: 19

So... Snowballs are dangerous. I'm a little traumatized now when I see a snowball fight in this book and the next chapter is a snowball fight... (I'm shivering).

Joey and Simon are relatable and I'm curious about how they hung out when they were still friends. They really seem like a nice match

Novel: Sincerely, Mysterious
Chapter I'm at: 42
AHHHHH! That's what was in my head for the majority of the novel. Adrian is an adorable mess and the story is just... so wholesome. There are awkward and cringe moments that can only be achieved by lovesick teenagers. These moments add so much to the story and I couldn't stop smiling when I read it.

OMG. YES. Adrian is adorable. Oh my god. The sense of realism. I mean, there are other good books out there but why are all the teenagers so poetic and deep as a chasm? Why can't they just be plain awkward like Adrian and Parker? I really love them and their shenanigans.

Novel: Non-Binary Hall
Chapter I'm at: 33
This was an interesting read. At first, the rhythm of the story wasn't gelling with me, but it got better the more I read. Noa, Em, and Ciel, the main characters, are complex and have compelling backstories. In fact, none of the characters of the novel felt one dimensional. The story seems like it's going to be a slow burn and I wonder how the relationship between Noa and Em is going to play out. One thing that became a bit confusing for me was remembering everyone in the cast of side characters (there are quite a few of them). I especially mix up Jackson and Jason. I guess it's because their names are so similar.

Novel: Sincerely, mysterious
Chapter: 5
Just started and it's promising, but didn't hook me in yet. Guess highschool romances are not really my thing, which is ironic since I'm writing one. Love the format of the story so far though! The mix of story with images and text messages in the format is a very fun variation. Hopefully the story will pick up in the next chapters.

(Can't add a link because of my stupid phone)

Oh, I understand the name confusion (I still suffer from it). There are just so many characters! Double yes on the slow burn. I think because of the numbers of characters, I wasn't really bored since there was always something going on.

I actually thought Sincerely Mysterious is was just a sweet, very awkward story. I read it just have my dose of adorable since everything else I was reading at the time was heavy.

Yeah, I'm not far enough yet to really form a judgement yet, but it's definitely a nice easy read. Just don't know yet if it's right for me.

Um, I don't know when the cut-off for this week's books is, so...
Novel: Lucky Wolf
Chapter I'm at: 41
I loved it! The illustrations for each chapter were really well done and added to my reading experience. I enjoy reading novels that have characters with dubious morals and Eyolf definitely checks that box. At first, I thought the switch between his past and present was a little disorienting and I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue reading. Boy am I glad I did. The story is amazing, the personalities/emotions were expressed excellently, and everything was so grounded in the time period. The relationship between Eyolf and Yngvar was both compelling and bittersweet. The ending killed me. I bought the e-book and it looks fantastic!

Ahhh. The ebook🥺 I want to get it tooooo:sob: Lucky Wolf was the first novel I read on Tapas. The feels!

This week's books are:....
