The Utter Frustration of Attempting to Post on Tapas

I've submitted my story. I've formatted it according to Tapas Rules. AND THAT friends and neighbours is where I've been stuck for what might be two weeks. I've tried every avenue including trying to get help from Tapas Moderators, assuming there are any. (Apparently not.) Help was a complete bust. The only time the site recognizes I exist is when I log in. After that I'm in a vacuum. Has anyone else experienced this?

This site must work somehow because books appear to have been published.

So it appears I'm talking to myself. It turns out my chapter and a half were published. I couldn't find how to see if Chapter 2.1 was published so I published it again. Now there are two 2.1 with different endings because I had to divide my original Chapter 2 in half to get Tapas to accept it. This is going to be such a tedious upload. I don't know if there are enough years left in my life to get one book loaded never mind 3.

Anyway, now I'm trying to figure out how to delete the first chapter 2.1 so that I can load 2.2. I'm half an hour into the search. I did see there was a page where you can edit stuff maybe I just have to load 2.2 and let that take me back to the page where I can get at the first 2.1 and delete it.

I haven't had much issue posting before, have you looked at the "episodes" section of your dashboard? I'd recommend deleting any duplicate chapters.

Hi jwabeasley,

I have no duplicate chapters. Do you know of any reason why this site doesn't post clear instructions about how to navigate through the site? Mindreading seems to be an important skill here.

I finally did figure out how to "publish my chapters to a list only I can see. So it turns out, I haven't really published anything. I'm in a holding pattern, a sort of writer's Purgatory. A cyberspace room with no doors, windows, buttons, switches or anything else that could provide direction. Part of my problem was how long the site takes to load. I have a hard time not thinking Tapas has crashed. So it appears my book is published where no one can see it. I don't see the point of that. Finding my original post from 6 days ago was a fluke. I have no idea how I got here or if I'll be able to find my way back. It feels just like Alice must have felt at the bottom of the Rabbit Hole.

I'm sorry you've been so frustrated.

The Tapas Forums are separate from the main site, in order to see the threads you've posted on the forums, once you're logged in to the forum, simply click on your profile picture in the upper right corner and then mousewheel-click on your name. That will take you to your forum profile page, where you can see all the threads you've participated in on these forums. That should help you locate this (or any other thread you've joined) anytime you like in the future.

I haven't experienced the loading issues you are, so the issue is likely between you and your ISP. Are you on a mobile device with a poor connection? I find using a desktop for preparing and posting my chapters to be intuitive and straightforward.
