All the benchwork just stops; samples and cell lines can be frozen, and larger organisms like mice are maintained by minimum personnel. Virtual labs are good for teaching, but you can't really use them to analyze actual samples with unknown composition.
There is still a lot of work that can be done from home, like organizing and analyzing data, reviewing the literature and preparing papers. This last part I tend to neglect a lot, maybe I can finally make some progress and get some papers out.
