There is the thing I'm thinking about recently.
Those people, who collect money for charity, often promise to place names of the biggest donaters at different sorts of "Hall of Fame" at their websites. But what for?
Why anyone would want to put their real name and surname on such page? Charity and donations may be a fine topic to discuss with friends, just as everything which caused you interest and emotional response; also with other people, who may be interested in doing in discussing the same things, as common interest (however, during such talk with less familiar people I wouldn't reveal how big donate did I make). But what's the benefit to let everyone know, making your true name and surname directly searchable in the Internet in such context? After it, all kinds of scum may easily make you a target to annoy you with begging for donating for their (this time, imaginary) "charity" too.
The same is goes about those people, who are wearing stripes, badges, packs IRL with mentioning that they made this and that charity.
Do other people think about you better after they see your name on such badge or Hall of Fame? Idk, because I personally have mixed attitude toward shooting out about one's charity. Especially in the case of badges. Like a person is boasting it.
