This tourism thing... Why so many people think that if you've come to another country, you MUST visit particular places and do particular things in it, or otherwise "the trip was in waste"?
Don't different people have different interests?..
I'm even more confused about these "touristic tours", where everything is decided for you - where will you go, what will you look at, whom and on which topics will you listen on excursions, how you will spend your free time, where will you live. Why on Earth thousands of people want to have the same experience? How the same place or activity can be interesting for everyone?
For example, recently I've reasiled that I don't want to go to the British museum or to any of all these historical and classical art museums around, because I don't have much interest in the most of old historical things, neither have I in the most of old classical drawings and sculptures. I went much more willingly to the museum of science, because I'm interested in particular history aspect - history of science - and to the museum of modern art - obviously because I'm interested in modern art. But, for example, I've took a look at Buckingham Palace only at my 3rd week here and just because I was walking and chatting with a very nice guy, who asked me, if I was in that place or not, and when I answered that I haven't, he said "Woah! You still want there? Really? How it's possible? let's go there now!". If it wasn't him, I think that I still wouldn't visit it.
And then my family asks, why didn't I go here and there... Because in their opinion, every decent "civilized" "intelligent" person should visit particular places in London as a part of their cultural leisure... Oh my God, why...
