The views and likes are alright, But about the comments.

Is the work too difficult to understand that people don't know what to comment?????

I want people to comment there thought what they liked and disliked of the story. That helps to build engagement among the creator and readers. So that the work can go in the best way possible.....

If the readers of volkermord are looking at this, please comment your thoughts as you read the story....
Your words are really important for me, And if you don't understand the work, state the same as well so I can edit it to make it more understandable.

A very small percentage of readers actually comment. That is just life. I try to comment but don’t always, especially if I’m just doing a drive-by reading (checking for updates when I only have a moment). Even some of the really popular series only get maybe a hundred comments, which seems impressive until you realize that it’s had a million views

Yeah but how do I even know what the latest chapter feels to the reader if they don't comment. I think people should drop some comments or even try to drop one in a while.... I do this whenever I feel like something in a work is great or it lacks something giving a creator a feedback so that he can grow the in best way possible... But the same never happens to me. this sometimes feel like I should stop uploading stuff coz no one really cares....

This only matters if you're giving it away for free.

Sell on Amazon or Goodreads and it won't. For every 100 copies I sell, only two to five percent or readers rate or review. It doesn't matter as long as the work sells.

If you believe your work is good, don't just give it away for free and wait for comments, put it up for sale online at the same time, and you won't be troubled so much.

Here on Tapas, and other free sites, the readership is limited to people who sign up for freebies, unless you hit the premium market.
Mainstream sites like Amazon are where the real readers who pay upfront are.

You can't just expect people to interact. Comments are brilliant but they're not common. Just keep uploading! Who cares if it's not popular, there's more to life than that

My ratio is ~137:7:1 views:likes:comments. Yours is ~72:6:1, so it's a perfectly respectable amount of comments for your view count.

Some readers are more talkative, some just quietly 'like' everything you post. Several of my regular readers don't have Tapas accounts and yet they keep coming back - that's a big win as far as I'm concerned, even if they can't like or comment.

I know it's challenging but try not to get too hung up on the numbers. By my estimation, you're doing very well for a novel that's under a year old.

As others said, comments are the rarest of engagement. You can't force them. Most are silent readers and many do not feel comfortable commenting. Even for the biggest creators, that is just how it is.

Tip: Ask a question in your author's notes to prompt some answers.

If what you're looking for is someone to tell you what they liked and didn't like, you won't get much of that in comments. Usually, comments are emojis, acronyms like "LOL" or just a few words. Even rarer are the loyal readers who theorize (I love those). What you seem to be looking for is a beta reader?

You should also look at your subscriber list. If most "readers" are just sub4sub, aka other creators, such tactics dont really bring genuine engagement, just a quick boost at the time you made a pact with them to sub and stuff. What you want to aim for are actual readers who will eagerly await the next chapter release and engage.

I never thought of selling it this way..... When I started writing this work, it was to see whether I can write something that people will like, Something that can be recognised as a proper work..... After completing the book I gave it my friend for a read and the response was good, but I only get few of it, 25 in total. Therefore looking for some platform I came to know about this platform, where many of the readers are creators as well, hence having experience in writing, I thought If people will get it for free, they will give it a try, And provide some feedback for me to know whether I can write or not. Guess I totally get the wrong Idea of this platform.

Originally I had the same Idea of making organic reader base. I do made some of the reader base but it's too time consuming and I saw other creators doing the same, I thought I should give it a try. To be honest I am doing Sub4Sub much more lately. I know It's not as good as any organic reader, I know it's not very healthy but I felt the need of doing so.....

Yes. Because almost everyone here in the community section are not just readers, we're all creators too. So it's just a spiral of patting each other on the back, even if most don't really care.

To know if your work is up to standard, try selling, even ghostwriting for buyers. If your work doesn't sell right away, as the saying goes - try again, fail again, fail harder, try harder and harder until you win.

Free comments and reviews are not genuine, as anything free has no value. When people who buy your work and review, positively or negatively, that has real value.

Same issue here. I think it's a combination of 2 things why little engagement...

1) everything has already been done before. It's all about repackaging nowadays. And with the sheer volume of comics and novels here, please... it's like doom scrolling. Endless bombardment of data. Makes people overall less likely to comment.

2) people worried about offending. There's authors out there that are so easily offended you'd rather not comment. You still manage to offend them even if you avoid religion, politics, and criticism of certain people or groups...

As far as I see this we came this far wrong due to lack of effective communication, to the point where we fear to even communicate

I suffer from this problem with both the Arab and English audiences, and honestly, I get very happy when I see one comment​ But it's okay, I know that with continuity, the comments will increase.

I relate to your feelings, but it is something you will find everywhere, more popular webtoons, youtube videos... people are less likely to put in the effort to think of a comment, so this is usually the ratio of likes to comments you'll end up with, don't be discouraged! That many comments actually means people are loving your work! :]

Unfortunately, people don't really comment much nowadays. They prefer to be silent readers.

Maybe ask a question or two to encourage them. It's not guaranteed.
