PS: We ain't breaking any rules and the story only went up to Episode 5.

Not surprised honestly. What you're doing is completely allowed in the rules, but I imagine there will be quite a few who will be bitter. Even I don't know how someone who is starting from scratch is going to compete with someone who already has an audience that can just transfer over to the re-uploaded comic. Meh, well I got into this knowing how competitive it'd be.

What you're doing is NOT allowed in the contest.This is one of those cases of Read the fine print.

You cannot submit a title that has been published on Discover prior to June 11, 2018 as a contest submission. However, you may submit your existing Discover series by re-uploading the story as a “New” series during the submission period of June 11, 2018 to September 13, 2018. Please ensure that your series meets the panel and episode guidelines.

Your series Start-Up is the same series uploaded previously. You can see that just by your image thumbnail. You have to upload it as a NEW series to be allowed to enter the contest. In other words RENAME your series to something else.

It doesn't matter what people think, rules are rules and if your'e against them then you are in the wrong, however if you follow the rules then you are perfectly eligible to enter the contest. In this case you shot yourself in the foot.

I joined the contest. I've got nothing to lose and everything to gain. I only have 12 subscribers for my current strip and I'm using ideas I had planned already anyway. Going from 6 to 12 panels to tell a joke will be a challenge but here's hoping they'll be good. That's not how I read the rules, I think @theyaoiarmy is in the right. It doesn't say you have to update or change anything to qualify. If they meant a "new" series they wouldn't call it RE-uploading.

Agreed. I don't see what difference changing the name would do in a realistic sense, it would be a completely inept rule if that was the case.

You either allow re-uploading or you don't. You don't just go and allow re-uploading but only if you change the name!!!!111

Well if you don't have to change your series name and you can reupload then thats fine.

I wouldn't go off what someone says on a forum.
That's just how I read it. It's better to ask webtoons.

Found this part of the FAQ interesting. Don't really know what the second part would be addressing other than the rating system. Though I expect it means that if you get caught causing trouble Webtoon will eliminate you from the competition probably.

For the first part, think they'll consider the time before the re-upload of an already established comic as a part of its duration? I also wonder what this means for the recommended section. If they showcase comics eligible for the competition would that not be considered favoritism on their part? sigh I'm just trying to think of things people will probably complain about. At the end of the day, guess that's why "audience engagement" is only 40%, so that the judges can focus on quality rather than making this a popularity contest.

yeah and I saw the someone ask question at Line Webtoon's facebook PAge regarding the re upload of work. the webtoon respond it is okay as long you change the title of your existing Discover title VS your Contest Title

I think the changing of the name depends on if the other series still exists or not?

So if you delete your previous series and reupload the name can probably be the same, but if you keep your old one published you need to have a new name? That's my interpretation

Yup~ You are right, though I don't understand why webtoon need to rename the title in order to be participate the contest.

allowing old webtoons to be reupload to enter the contest is fair game to me, I mean, webtoon allow old comics from everywhere else to enter, so why not? Re-uploading an older comic is good and webtoon will let them be qualified to enter but honestly I don't think webtoon will even consider these to be winners. This contest is in my opinion to find new comics to feature because they already featured all the ones they want, now the ones left, they don't want to feature, so they do this to find new ones. Re-entering an old comic can be done but I see this as a waste of time, if they didn't feature your comic already, they won't make you the winner for the same comic to feature you. No offense to anyone using an older comic but the result is pretty obvious. Unless of course your purpose is for traffic and views or other things, then it could be worth it.

I agree with @AllisonGal. And if I may add, it seems that some people arent paying attention to some of the important requirements: 'Most Feels, Laughs, Epic and Gripping' are downright unconsidered when people reupload or upload their pre-made works... I'm guessing these were the most important factors and we should aim to what we choose to aim IMO.

I'm trying to enter the 'Most Epic' and I really have a hard time coming up with a story myself.

Huh, the category names are so obvious I guess I overlooked them lol. I'm also going to be submitting to 'Most Epic',' but don't really know what they mean by that . . . Any ideas?
