This may come off as rude/off-putting so I apologize in advance.
I'm reading the thread right now and I wanted to talk about this misconception people have with webtoon. When you look at the HOTS page, most of it's going to be filled with romance stories. And that is a given since the audience at webtoon enjoys romance more than the other genres. Of course, those comics are going to have the most clicks! But to say that webtoon only promotes and takes in romance webtoons as featured is wrong.
I mean, do you guys only look at the popular page, or actually skim through all the featured novels? There is a lot more "non romance-based" novels than anything!
Let me list some featured webtoons. They also have unique art-styles (some may have romance as a sub-genre but it's not the main):
Newman, Hardcore Leveling Warrior, Noblesse, Bluechair, Adventures of God, A budgie's Life, Supersonic Girl, Behind the GIFs, Lunarbaboon, Trash Bird, Haxor, The sound of Your heart, Carl, Safely Endangered, The Steam Dragon Express, A Good Day to be a Dog, Darbi, My name is Benny, The worl where I belong, dustinteractive, Moon You, Elf & Warrior, Sword Interval, XINK3R, Denma, Cyberbunk, Brother's bond, Tales of the Unusual, Catharis, Space boy, Just for Kicks, Waffles & Pancakes, As per Usual, Live Forever, Melvina's Therapy, Doodle for Food, UnderPrin,1000, Dents, Firebrand, Mirror, Hooky, The God of High school, The gamer, I don't want this kind of Hero, Shard, Spirits, Have you any fear?, The strange tales of oscar zahn, gosy, soul cartel, S.I.D, Apocalyptic Horseplay, Guardians of the video game, Ghost teller, Cat loaf adventures, Hapi Buni, and more.
As you can see, there are a lot of webtoons with VERY different art styles on the site, and I feel like if people actually paid attention and clicked on them, then maybe you would not have this misconception. And honestly, I took out most of the popular "non-romance" webtoons out of this list just because those are already well known.
And on this topic, people please support the webtoon featured artists that don't have the popular webtoons. They deserve some love as well.
