Titles in the forums (discussion)

Eh, personally I don't really mind. I mean, you can generally tell which titles are meant to be clickbait from looking at them. If I see one I usually just ignore it unless I'm bored and want to waste time lol. And the wacky titles that pop up every now and then are kinda fun, makes the place seem lively

Actually changing the content of a title is something I would only do in a rather extreme case. Most of the time I think it's not really necessary, even if it's a little vague or misleading. Hey, it's the Internet ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Perhaps instead of nitpicking and qouting every single comment that disagrees with you, you can write one, proper, cohesive, non-defensive (seriously, no one attacked you) comment instead?

Let's get the housekeeping out of the way... I MADE one post then from there I'm pretty much replying to the people responding to me/ quoting me. That's how forums work. If I should choose to respond to people with an infinite number of comments... I have that agency, as long as I follow the forums rules of conduct.

Much like I don't want your opinion determining how I choose my topic titles, your opinion on how I should use the forums is equally as unwelcome.

Titles by definition are used to tell you what the topic is about. That's the reason they exist.

You're limiting the scope of what a title can do and how to use them. That's unnecessarily restrictive, in a forum of creatives, without having a better reason than you don't like it because it wastes seconds of your/newcomers day.

Please look through the comments, people have pointed themselves out! And it's got nothing to do with newcomers.

oh and it's not on personal taste either, it was already mentioned this would be done to not confuse newcomers.

I get the fact that click-bait titles are annoying to some people (though, I've honestly never really noticed any), but it feels wrong to change other people's content to change it. I mean, is it really that big of a problem that we have to manually go into people's topics and change their title just because we don't like how the topic correlates? And it's not near as bad here as it is on other places. What's the harm?
Idk. It seems too vague and subjective to play with. If really does bother you, make some guidelines and trust that people will respect them (which they usually do).

Personally, the vague titles do bother me. But in practice, I don't think regulars should change the titles unless they are straight up misleading or end up being a reoccuring cause for misunderstandings or fights in the thread itself (this has happened before). Slightly bothersome doesn't exactly require moderation in my mind.

Constantly bothersome, disruptive, off topic, intentionally misinterpretative and spammy, however, definitely does.

In all honesty and seriousness though, I know I occasionally do unclear titles (like "A bit of fun" where I did a music with character thread thing), but it's on the threads I'm not intending for anyone to take seriously. I think most of us try for a title that will get attention and not be too click bait-ish while stating what it is. If someone does that and you don't think it was a great idea for THAT thread, maybe PM the person? They prob don't know how they came off.

Disagreed. This is an open forum and any member here plays an important part in how things are going. To assume that 'it's not your business' is counter productive and not an acceptable response.

Some are a generic exposition, others plain clickbait, some just meaningless.

I agree. I've found them to be quite a problem - since this is a forum that encourages conversations, clickbait titles aren't useful.

To regulars: do you feel like we should change these titles to be topic-relevant?

Yes please. Go ahead and change it. I will make a forum wide post to officially put this into practice.
