Traditionally Drawn Comics promotion!

Hello everyone! I draw a comic on Tapas, and it's all done entirely in traditional art. I often feel like the only one these days, on the internet but still drawing on paper - so I thought I'd open a thread where people can share their traditional-art comics! I assume there are others out there, haha

My comic is sketched in pencil, then watercolour painted and lined with india ink (applied with a rrrrrreally thin brush). I write the dialogue myself too, hopefully that's not taking it too far!
It's nice to see all the different styles, so feel free to post a whole page or anything!

Oh wow that's such a cool look! I love the dramatic shading, and I'm always a fan of greyscale with flashes of colour

Thanks, the comic itself is mainly black and white, shaded with stippling and cross hatching, but every now and again I make a coloured/painted page.

I have to say, posting my older coloured pages to Tapas (I have been working on this series for over a year now) is going to be a bit embarrassing, they look a little like a children's storybook.

This one was drawn in pencil and painted with gouache, by the way. Some Staedtler pen was used as well.

I had a comic on here that's on hiatus right now but there's still a good chunk of content from it (: (and i do plan on coming back to it once I'm done with my current comic.)

I started off with just sharpies and a ballpoint pen. I upgraded to tombow hard and soft tipped pens, along with a double head soft tip and gray tip tombow. Around mid chapter 3 I got the sketch pack grayscale copics to finally shade in my pages. (Chapter 5 isn't on tapas bc I only put up finished chapters but near the last few pages up on it's host website I started using micron pens to get finer detail on the characters.) It's a little hard to read because it was made for a page by page view on it's website, so please excuse the giant page look with the endless scroll ;u;

(side note: the cover of chapter 1 was redone and was one of the last things I did before putting it on hiatus, which is why the character design is different than it is in the rest of the pages.)

My dream is to make a traditionally drawn comic but I've tried so many times and I'm just sooooo slow. So I can't share my own comic, but I'm commenting to follow this thread because I get so excited when I see traditionally drawn comics and I want to support traditional artists!

Well, I'll upload it to Tapas eventually, probably on a Tuesday within the next few weeks.
First I just have to make another 2 covers, a banner and a bunch of thumbnails.

Well guess what? I am also in your boat and do traditional art too. I do traditional art because of resources but also because it's easier and lot of fun.
Here is my comic:

It's a comic about feeling like you don't belong, but also about an addict, a ghost, a demon, an inventor, and technology. I use watercolors and draw all of mine in a sketchbook, with experimentations.
I will look at other people's art when I get the chance.

This is mine, the art is made by sketching using pencils, inking via markers n pens, paneling and dialogue are the only things i use digital tools for

My comic is also drawn traditionally in color pencils. It's super time consuming, but I prefer drawing traditionally over digitally, and color pencils are one of the cheaper options. I would suggest not reading it if you're underage and sensitive to heavy subjects like mental health, trauma, abuse and such.

I have really been enjoying the comic of, In The Woods Somewhere. The art, the characters, and the storyline are all really well done. I even learned shading techniques that I started to use when drawing my traditional Horror Comic, titled FEAR. Please see the picture below for a sample of my art and a link for the series.

Yeah I always fear by the time I finish my comic, I'm gonna have to go back and redraw all of my earlier pages to match the art improvement...

Oooh I love both the styles really! I love a good crosshatch - although it does wear out your pens haha.

I love the highlights in that character's hair in the last pic!

YEEAAH it killed my pens so much. Also hatch was such a killer on my wrist ;u; I was actually losing money working on that comic dsjbgfkgnfbhkgf Also thank you!! I tried out a few different ways to shade before I just said whatever and now I just do flat color. (I still actually have to draw out my current running comic traditionally despite it being digital.)

I do all drawings traditionally, but I do dialogue using computer (easier to translate after).

Out of curiosity what size of paper you feel comfortable with working on/scanning?

I just draw on somewhat higher quality A4 sheets if the page isn't coloured. If it is, then I use A4 watercolour paper.
