"Ehh? Monsters?" Dani said in disbelief leaning her face on the palm of her hand. "Surely that's a fairytale."

"I'm certain that they are." Ingrid said. "Valkyries definitely don't exist either, you know?" She combed her hair over her ears, and hoped nobody would notice her swan-feather earrings.
A strange noise came from outside the train, and it sounded like some sort of animals call. At least, Gunhild hoped it was.

[Kittyfox]

"Ah, uh, ghosts! Spirits! They don't exist either!" Luci chimed in awkwardly, letting out a nervous giggle.
"...what's that?" Hanako looked out the window, trying to identify what was making the sound. "Look, look, everyone!"

"Oh my norms, what is that?!" Gunhild cried. Ingrid summoned her crossbow and armour, and spread her white feathered wings, ready to fight.

[Lunes]

Lunes tenses a bit, holding a compass and dagger in her hands and glancing tentatively at the ‘thing’ outside. The train suddenly hisses and jerks before starting to slow down.

Gunhild pulled a green, glowing stone out of her pocket, and held it tightly in her palm. The stone was emblazoned with a picture of two intertwined snakes, both of which sported mischievous smiles.
"Get ready..." She muttered, as thumping footsteps approached their carriage, and the door creaked open...

Gunfire looked like she was about to reach for something inside one of her belt bags, but decided against it.

The Aviator, meanwhile, got ready to draw their pistol.

Danivere opens a eye and looks at the door, hearing the footsteps. What was going on?

The door flew open, to reveal a creature with a person's head, bird wings, and a lion's body.
"A Sphinx!" Gunhild yelled. "Don't let it grab your throat!"
She slammed the green stone into her forehead, and transformed. She grew taller, her skin grew paler, her pupils became slits, and her red hair became darker. Her coat changed, so it was black leather with green patterns, and her boots gained high heels and wings on the ankles.

She summoned balls of fire into her hands, and flew at the sphinx, whilst yelling "Come at me bro! I've just activated my Loki rune, you overgrown housecat!"
"Here we go again..." Ingrid smiled in a doting manner, and loaded her crossbow.

"We need your help to fight the sphinx! Don't worry, I'm a healer, I can heal you if you get hurt." Ingrid told the other inhabitants of the carriage.

"What in tarnation?" Dani gets up and looks at the creature. "Now I know I'm definitely not anywhere near home."
Danivere grabs her suitcase.

Gunhild gave a wild laugh as she pelted the sphinx with flames. Ingrid shot crossbow bolts at the monster, whilst using her wings as a shield. The sphinx lashed out with its claws, and its claws caught a chain around her neck.

A locket was torn from around her neck, the jewellery clattering on the floor. It popped open, showing a picture.

"Jyoti... No.... NOT JYOTI!" Ingrid screamed, her shoulders trembling. She stared at the monster, and gave a battle cry of pure anger.

Danivere covers her ears from Ingrid's battle cry. She had opened her suitcase, which contained a copper looking hand axe. She pulls a trigger on the axe and the top of the weapon reveals a gun compartiment.

The Aviator aimed their pistol at the sphinx’s face and fired.

Gunfire just kinda sat curled in her seat, covering her ears.

"What in the flying f(ric)k is that?!" Hanako shouted as she took out a wand from the pocket of her jacket and began trying to run around the sphynx and hit it with a spell from behind.

[Stargazer31]

The sphinx gave a scream as it evaporated into smoke, killed by the combined attacks.
"Crap, it must have been sent after us by Kronos..." Gunhild sighed, removing the rune from her forehead, and tucking it back into her pocket. She turned back to normal, and wrapped her arm around the trembling Valkyrie. Ingrid picked up her locket, and clipped it back on as she quietly muttered to herself.
"Can't lose you again Jyoti, can't lose you, no no no, musn'tloseyoulandminefirrpainwarnonono..."
Her armour disappeared, and she climbed onto her bunk, still trembling.

"Who's Kronos? Who's Jyoti? What's that? WHAT'S GOING ON??!" Hanako yelled, frustrated.

Luci looked up at the shaking Ingrid, and took some sweets out of her bag and left some for Ingrid.
"..hey, Ingrid.. it must be really hard losing someone like that. But, as long as you're still around, you'll be preserving their memory. The only way you'll truly lose them is if you forget about them. So, don't worry, they're still..." Luci gestured to her heart, "in here!" she turned away and began to freak out a little. "Oh god that sounded a lot more cheesy than it did in my head, but you know, right...?"

Gunfire stared ahead, but listened closely to Ingrid’s story. She, too, knew what it was like to lose someone you loved.

She thought about saying something to comfort Ingrid, but bit her tongue. She didn’t know these people, and she wasn’t here to get attached to anyone. She had a mission to carry out.

[Lunes]

Lunes just looks spacey from the fight with the sphinx and Ingrid's story. Again, I didn't do anything, Useless. The words run through her head but she shakes them off. Now is not the time to be indulging in self-pity. However, she is a bit uncomfortable with the crying, not knowing whether to comfort her or just sit there.
The monster, on the other hand, is something she's never seen in real life before. Rather like a creature than what she knows he like to do.

After a few minutes, Ingrid calmed down, and stretched her hand out to Lunes.
"Are you ok?" She asks
