For my Power System, Essence, the most complicated part of it is definitely gonna be Ultimates (inspired from Reality Marbles from the Fate Series, and also Domain Expansions from jjk but they both have similar premises)

Ultimates are the pinnacle of power in the world of Essence, a rare occurrence that only the strongest can attain. It is a projection of the user's Inner World, a manifestation of the root of their soul, or their true self.

There are two types of Ultimates: Boundary (Bound or Boundless), and Open-Field. Boundary encases the Ultimate in a boundary outside of the real world, not letting anyone inside the boundary escape, in a Sphere of Influence, where it acts as a limiter to not let the Inner World spread out to the real world, while Open-Fields reject the idea of a boundary or Sphere of Influence, and spreads the Inner World throughout reality, expanding at a constant rate, but letting opponents escape its range.

When Ultimates are casted, they start with an Opening Ceremony, where the Inner World and Sphere of Influence (Only for Boundary Types) is created. However, once they unleash a hand sign and a chant, they unleash the Universal Effect unto everyone. The Universal Effect is the effect wherein the Inner World is imbued with Essence, and then imbues it into every person inside the Boundary, therefore making them affected by the Ultimate's ability.

The only way to stop an Ultimate, is to interrupt the Opening Ceremony before the user unleashes the Universal Effect, casting your own Ultimate which results in a clash between two Ultimates, and an inherited technique that is a well-kept secret passed by the last members of an extinct clan to their peers and allied clans, but I'm not gonna reveal that for now.

I'm definitely not gonna elaborate on the Types of Ultimate clashes, because it would make it too complicated to even fit here. But there are three types: Boundary vs Boundary, Open-Field vs Open-Field, and Boundary vs Open-Field. Just think of a Boundary-Type as a rock and Open-Field as a crumpled piece of paper that constantly uncrumples itself and expands.

Sounds like a lot to keep track of!

My power system, if you can call it that, is based on real-world esoteric philosophy, so probably the most overcomplicated part is trying to understand renaissance alchemy technical terms which were written in a deliberately obtuse way, and to understand them you need to know technical jargon that was deliberately not written down and hasn't been taught for over two centuries. That or neoplatonism.

The most complicated part of my Power System is the different "states" the users of Ánima Corporea can be in.

Early Riser: Just after obtaining the Ánima.
In this state, the user it's in some kind of adrenaline rush. Their decisions are irrational and are driven by their repressed desires. The more repressed the user was before, the more irrational and, by extent, dangerous they become. They usually use their powers subconsciously, and have no control of their Ánima, which only manifest in cases of high risk. This stage ends eventually.

Somnambulist: When the Early Riser stage ends.
This stage in particular appears after recognizing the consecuences of the actions one took in the previous one. If the damage the user caused go completely against their own moral compass, this state is major. In the best case, a Somnambulist just goes through an instrospective moment, in the worst case, their Ánima returns to the deepness of their subconscience to not be used again.
Early Risers have the capacity of influencing
on a Somnambulist to go back to the previous stage.

Wakeful: Normally, after reaching an agreement between their moral and their desire, is when the user reaches this stage.
It can be forced after going through a near death experience. It slightly boosts their power, but the most important change is the absolute "Solidification" of their Ánima (It can now manifest at will, and it becomes part of the user).
The Ánima, just an internal dialogue that influenced the user's decisions before, is now part of their conscience. It's like having a conversation with yourself. The user can separate themselves from their Ánima, which is useful to collect information since they both share memories. The problem is that if they separate too much, they can't use their power.

To be honest, you don't HAVE to understand it to this level. But it helps me write the story.

An angel or demon's proxy on earth needs to have both spiritual and genetic compatibility for it to work. Otherwise, the demon or angel is nerfed.

When Eman first merges with Claudita, he has enough power to take on weaker super soldiers...

...but not enough to fight Lucia who is possessed with more demons due to her genetic compatibility and greater trauma which primes her soul to be more compatible with demons.

But when Eman levels up... through physical and mental training...

His compatibility with Claudita increases therefore his power level too... as a result, he was able to take down 3 super soldiers on the same tier as Lucia more or less.

But ultimately... he doesn't have 100% genetic and spiritual compatibility with Claudita. That's why he can't fully channel her 100%. There is still separation... but that's ok. No hard feelings... they can still be friends. No benefits though
