Tumblr, a good website for comics?

I decided that I should put my comics on more than 1 website so I made a Tumblr because I had seen alot of popular comics had there comics up there. Is it a good website for it. It's confusing, i've never used it before.

Tumblr is a good website for gag comics. If your comic doesn't have to be read in chronological order, new readers and jump in and have a good laugh at your webcomic - it's an easy way to build up a following.

However if your comic has a plot and story, it might be a little harder to get followers. I've seen a lot of good plot-driven webcomics get 10-20 notes per update, so I don't think Tumblr's a good place to start if that's the case.

If you have small self-contained gags/pages, they're more likely to be seen and shared. I've got one set of pages from Demon House that has 18k notes (the most successful thing I have on that site that's totally original). It still gets a couple hits every day and brings in the occasional new reader despite being two years old.

Yes, tumblr is definitely less friendly towards long-form stories though.

The archive system doesn't work so well with story-driven comics. I think you have to link to things manually if you want your comic to be navigable. EDIT: That's what A Tale of Two Rulers seems to be doing.

I concur with the gag comic thing. Now I've sorted out my tags, Tumblr is where I get most of my new interest.

if its story based id say theyre good for posts like this with a link to the first page if they intrigue people

some comics do do well on tumblr though, i really like false edge
