Turn off unwanted notifications?

I keep getting notifications that aren't related to the comics I'm subscribed to.

I don't care about X's wife who's in love with the secret handsome demon dude, nor Bl or the first free episode of generic comic.

But in the settings I can't find anything?

You're not the first one who'd like to get rid of those ads and sadly, there's no way to turn them off

That's terrible, I've been on this site for years now and its never been this bad.

No wonder people go elsewhere, tapas used to be lot better.

How else Tapas shill their premium series to get readers and make back the licensing and translating fee​? I do not think they will get rid of it soon, it is for their profit.

Just make it less annoying, please. Aggressive advertising will only turn off people.

It's really bad for the creators that also read. "what's this? a comment or new sub?? NOPE it's BL"

Besides anything worth reading that's behind ink, I just go off site, like the novel "perfect run" I found that on royal road first, when I see that there's ink involved. It's by the same creator so it's not dishonest, and I assume i'm not the only one who goes off site.

I understand creators need money, but that's what patreon is for.

Yes. I really hope there is a division of notifications for promotion, notification from your series, notification from the series you are subscribed to, and inbox for private message. It can be difficult to organize and easy to miss something when everything is thrown in a same page.

What I mean in this is the profit for Tapas, not individual creators. Creators can either sign up for premium program or creating Patreon/KoFi to gain profit. Hell, unlock 250 subs and pray for readers' mercy to throw ink at you (which can be withdrawn as money).

For Tapas though, I think it is the ink you buy to unlock premium chapters being one of its profit source. They think "How to get readers spend ink in this series we have just licensed?" and the answer is "Plaster it everywhere in the home page, social media, and notification!" naturally. They advertise like hell because they want money, naturally.

I understand that it's tapas and not the creators, I was just meaning that when you get into the flow of a comic and get hit with the ink I just go off site.

Tapas has always focused on just casual readers or really popular comics, popular comics which have a much larger fanbase elsewhere. But the people in the middle? The people who read and create get shafted when design is involved.

Tapas had it's strong but small niche, now it's trying to compete in different genres.

Yeah i get 'free ink" but it's a limited time offer and gets taken away. As someone who comes and binge reads the comics and leave for months if the ink accumulated then it would be alright. I bet a lot of people do the same, even if they pay, you still have to wait for the author. So people can enjoy a good chunk of it.

There's very few comics these days that I instantly read when they are out.

Many of people here have expressed the same concern (and displeasure) about their direction change and content choice.
Maybe the middle-ground is not lucrative enough for them to expand. Maybe they wanna follow the model of fellow competitor (like Webtoon and TappyToon)?

(Also most of free inks IIRC is bonus ink, cannot gift creators with that )

Are there that many Tapas pay-walled series legally available for free elsewhere? I have just known. I thought it is only pirates and their ships.

I'm not surprised, the forms would be filled with the middle ground people.

Yeah its obvious that they are trying to compete with webtoon that has a lot of Manwha content, I always saw this place as a western type comic. Mainly due to the Gag type comics. But they are trying to compete with them in a market that's already filled. They tried to help with novels, but honestly that's like adding an online feature to a single player game post release. It's just added junk to the site.

Yup, it's useless. As I said I wouldn't mind if it could accumulate or a daily login receive.

Hmm the older popular ones would be as they just see tapas as a dumping ground and focus on their own site or home base.

But would legality stop people? It's an interesting topic of itself, convenience will always win over anything else. If its easier to pay on tapas then people will, if not then people will search for other means.

Netflix is a prime example, before it used to have a lot of content, but then other streams popped up and suddenly you have to pay to three different sites. Heck sometimes no one has the content.

Regarding for comics, the official English release of XYZ might be behind the fan(illegal) translations and so readers will go there.
