even if you think you "start" together, you have to consider that the other comic's creator might have already had a pretty big audience before hand or that their comic is able to reach a wider audience more easily (think slice of life, or gag comics). for example, I started my comic around the same time Ava's Demon started, but my comic isn't as big as Ava's demon because the creator used to work for Dreamworks, was part of the art team on Homestuck when it was still going strong, and she already had a ton of followers prior to starting her comic.
just like mrjonzap said, you can't get discouraged because you don't think you're getting a ton of views. just keep promoting your comic on social media, or wherever appropriate, and keep focusing on telling the story you want to tell and soon people will start to take notice.
