In short, I've been working on a silent zombie apocalypse comic following a woman and her dog as the main protagonists. I feel like it's a very unexplored dynamic of characters missing in a lot of media, so I made a point from the beginning to write that as the main focus.. the zombie setting just happened to be an idea I was interested in exploring lol.
I recently finished the script for it! I'm looking to make this into a webcomic series on Webtoons and Tapas, but this post is mainly to make the first chapter a one-shot! If you're interested, please read everything I gotta say here lol
Synopsis & Title!
Wynona and her dog, Dusty, have been living this world repopulated by the dead for a few months. Supplies are getting low in the small town she lived in, people have come and gone, but the fact remains that this woman and her companion seem to be the only living beings left.
The project's temporary name is "WD Undead". Yeah, it's lazy lol.
Genres!
Post-apocalypic*, Slice of life??, Drama, Action, Gore** (in order of relevance)
*I'm not sure if this qualifies as a genre..
**There's only a few scenes that I'd want to get graphic
Though, yeah, it's a zombie comic, the story has a focus on flashbacks and calmer moments
Art Style & Format!
Manga, or American comic style? My big influence on this was The Walking Dead. Hell, I can see it working with a Scott Pilgrim art style. I'm actually not sure how I'd want it to look, but if anyone wants to show me their artworks, it'd be appreciated. I'd leave a link to the artstyle in the post if I think it really fits the comic. I'd prefer it to be colored, but black and white works too! Since I'm aiming to post the series on Webtoons and Tapas, I'd want to make it a scrolling type of webcomic.
Scriptwriting & Length!
I wanted it to be a one-shot before, but now it's got 37 chapters. The chapters are 20 panels each, with the exception of the first and last chapter which are 40 panels. For right now though, I wanna only do the first chapter. This can be a one-shot as well. I wrote this by vaguely explaining what I'd want happening in the panels, so I guess it'd be more like reading a list of actions. I just wanted to keep it simple. I can expand on it by writing more if you want though. If you want a sample of my writing, I'd prefer that you ask about it by messaging me~
I'm open to changing the plot entirely. I'm not too big a fan of changing what may be written out already, but if you feel like you have ideas you'd wanna see in the comic, let me know! This IS a collab, after all! Hell, this can be rewritten from the ground up, if you want (though, we'd have to do A LOT of talking, I love my baby as it is lol).
Upload Schedules on Webtoons and Tapas!
I'm in no rush to release this! It can be weekly, biweekly, monthly.. I'd prefer weekly, but it's up to the whoever I work with. The schedules would be different on Webtoons and Tapas. I've separated the panels of each chapter into little parts, so it can also we can post on Tapas more frequently.
Potential Future Partnership!
Like I said, I'm only trying to make the first chapter into a one-shot for now. If you'd like to keep working on it further than that, I'm hoping you're in it until the end! My hope is to save up a few chapters in bulk so we release them without any hiccups in the schedule. I also wouldn't mind working with a team to make the work easier on whoever's working on this with me. If it's just me and an artist, I don't mind, but a team separate jobs would be more ideal if you all wanna go long term after the one chapter, I think.
