I agree on the jarring part, it's strange that they tell over and over the story of a character, always changing it and molding it like it's made of playdough, it's like the character is no longer real and just a mouthpiece or puppet for the author to spat whatever they want.
I think the stories always being political is more subjective if anything, To me it boils down to this, I can read any book as a non-American from the 2000's to the 1950 no problem, but after I can't because the books are soo specific about the politics and views of America that I am alienated. That's my biggest problem with American comics they have gone so political and have been entrenched soo much in American politics that they are no longer universal.
