Publishing on Tapas is sort of like not showing your work to anyone.
I kid!
Hey, putting your work out there is always worth the effort. Even if not one person were to read it today, it could be found and explored generations later for all we know. It can be an intimidating step, but it's well worth it in terms of personal growth. I've been with Tapas for a little over a year, and I have yet to regret a minute of it.
A full time self-publishing author I know once wrote this in a blog post. "I have read a lot of lamentations lately about the state of the publishing industry. It can be frustrating that most people don't consider self-publishing to be real like getting published by a big publisher [despite how most of those opportunities for traditional bug publishers disappeared decades ago when market shifts began]. I have already felt that self-publishing is more of an opportunity than a burden or act of desperation. When I send a book to a print-on-demand for the first time, I think, 'Wow, I get to publish something that I wrote myself. With just a few button pushes, I can produce a real book with my name on the cover that I can hold and put on my shelf. This is wonderful.' "
Uploading to Tapas is like that but moreso. We can reach audiences all around the globe, and we get to do it for free. I live in Florida, but I met a reader (who is aldo another author) who lives in India, and that's wild.
