I didn't see anyone post answers so I didn't want to post mine, whoops -
Here's the answers for the main character of Splitting Image, Mortimer.
-What smell do they associate with their childhood?
Onion sauce, polished rock(from the palace flooring), paper.
-How much time do they spend on their looks? What do they spend it on?
He spends very little time, making sure the braids are done and the hair is at the right size, and keeping his hand injuries clean and bandaged under the gloves if necessary.
-How is their posture?
He stands up in a controlled way, but sitting down he gradually bends towards things, especially if he's reading.
-Do they believe in soul mates?
Nope, there are relationships he'll feel strongly about and relationships he won't, it's never one single person.
-What would they do with three wishes? Would they lie if asked? Would they wish differently than they like to imagine they would?
He'd spend the first two making sure his adopted kids would never suffer from the things he does (and maybe wish they were living with someone else), but the last one on himself to remove his black magic at any cost. The last one would be rather selfish and surprising even to him, and he'd absolutely lie he wished to remove Veriesin's curse or something instead.
-How do they treat service workers?
With utmost care, but also with fear. He's surely below them, though he never saw workers as inferior or superior before, just with a different job.
-How does your character react to being sick?
He metaphorically beats himself up over not finishing work or being unavailable for help.
-How responsible is your character with money?
Very responsible, but spends a lot on little luxuries for the hobs, leaving very little for his own supplies, books and whatnot.
-What kind of shoes do they wear?
Simple painted leather shoes with cushions on the inside and wood soles, painted yellow(NOT gold).
-What's their weirdest superstitions?
He doesn't cast curses or place traps without a known escape; as a tougher escape means bigger collateral damage. That usually means his plans would have very obvious, if complicated solutions.
-What's one thing they would never tell anyone about themselves, even their closest friend?
What really happened at the Novella Palace's throne room. It's spoilers, of course.
-When are they most confident? When are they most insecure?
Cofident when using magic; insecure in crowds or near "important" people, that meaning changing depending on the situation.
-What is their greatest virtue? What is their fatal flaw?
Loyalty; self-blaming.
-What's a soft spot? What brings out a cruel streak?
He loves birds, especially egrets; and changes his tune around two faced people.
-What loss, revelation, or change would shake their foundation as a person the most?
Already happened. It started by taking care of children and realizing he wasn't out of a purpose just yet, then the death of his brother made him realize he had gone too far with his selfish villainy and he's forever unsure if he can really go back from it.
