Using Italics in my Novel

I'm already hitting a major hurdle in posting a novel here on tapas, and it's already pissing me off.

Two languages are spoken in the course of the novel. I establish early on that italicized lines of dialogue are being spoken in the foreign language, and non-italicized lines are not. I do this consistently throughout the book. Slight problem: it doesn't transfer to this website when I paste it over.

Does this mean I have to manually re-italicize every. single. line. using HTML in order to post it here? If so, I'm not even going to bother and will probably sit out the contest I was looking forward to joining.

The answer is: yes. It's need to be done manually.

Yeah, you have to do it manually, but it's pretty easy if you're on desktop. All you gotta do is highlight the text you want to change (there might be another word for it, just can't remember right now). Take a line from my latest episode as an example.

What I do is paste the story into the input box, then also paste it into a rich text to HTML converter, so it finds and tags all the italics. Then I do a search for the italic tag and scroll through the tapas window at the same time to make sure I don't miss any.

Which is a pain compared to other posting sites but it's the fasted method I've found so far.

I write and edit in different programs, so I've taught myself to put ** around all the words I want in *italics* and then when I've posted it to Tapas I search * and can then easily highlight like @ChristodeBoyet showed and put the italics where I want them.
It was a small adjustment, but I never lose italics anymore

(of course, the forum actually messes that up by applying the italics to the stuff I have the asteriks around )

How am I supposed to paste the html version into the chapter, then? Is there an html view somewhere?

You can't paste the HTML into Tapas, it's just there to help you find all your italics. Faster than rereading the entire over just to remember where they all are, if you use italics a lot (like emmyengberts above using * *)

Thanks everyone. The site's interface is garbage, but I think I can manage it now. Re-uploaded the project.
