Using Real Name or Nickname in Email?

I’m thinking of creating an email that’ll be used for online art sales but I was wondering should I use my actual name for the email or can I use a nickname? I was told that I should use my real name in a business email (And also for an online portfolio) but some artists use their nicknames in their email addresses.

it honestly depends on what you're selling. If it's something of a more serious nature, then a real sounding name gives more credibility (doesn't have to be your real name persay, but it sounds more real). Sometimes usernames can come off immature, especially if you're working with older people who don't really live on the internet, but if you're doing online sales with people who know you by that username then it's expected that you'll use the username.

This question is important as it's depends on you and your purpose/choice

Many people prefer to use their real name for professional purpose or many would rather like to not reveal their personal life prefer using pseudonym for art

Some also prefer brand over personal names.

If you want to make it into business purpose better suggestion will be talking to pros

For me, I use my real name for everything for a variety of reasons. (I'm old school, I won't get sick of it, it's easy for people to find my stuff online, it's professional, it's less confusing, it's unique, it isn't too specific to one thing I do.)

However, I think the most important thing to take into consideration is to be consistent! If you go by "ToxicRamen" online everywhere, then I would make that the name of the email. If your email was "johndoe@gmail.com" it would be really confusing for someone who knows you by "ToxicRamen."
