I was scrolling through other books, finding novels to read on days like these when I take a break from writing, and I noticed a weird pattern. A person can only subscribe a novel once, right? And they can like each episode, so they can like the entire story numerous times, right? Then, why is it that most of the stories I see have a higher subscriber count than likes? Isn't that weird? Am I missing something or is this normal?

There are a lot of silent readers around. The literally just read and move on.

Or someone has added the story to their reading list and haven't read it yet

But the difference I noticed is astonishing. There are a few books that have like, for example, 16 likes but 165 subscribers. Those kind of books really stumped me

The novel I'm currently working on, For the Light, has 565 subs but I get 10-13 likes per update and that's been pretty consistent with all my work. The like/comment ratio has always been drastically off

Is that normal in Tapas books? Since, the novels that I have written till now (which are quite new though) have a similar likes/subs ratio, so I'm quite confused

I think it's common for most, except for maybe those who are mega popular. But like I said, there are lots of silent readers

Yeah it's pretty normal. I think especially on Tapas, there are people who like to binge read so they either 1. save the story to read later, or 2. when going through it, they will read a bunch of eps and neglect to like each one.

I have about 180 subs and 800 likes and 11.4k views which seems like a lot at first glance. But, if you do the math, when considering my 100 chapters, that means like 8 dedicated readers have liked the chapters theyā€™ve read, but a lot more have read.
It really took me becoming a creator on the site to realize that I should always like the chapters of the work Iā€™m reading, especially if Iā€™m enjoying the work.

I catch my self forgetting to hit the like button at the end of a chapter a lot!! One idea I got from another author is to create a little graphic at the bottom of each chapter reminding readers to like the chapter if they enjoyed it.

How to Add Pictures to your Novel

Once you have created the graphic, if you created it in a program like photoshop you will need to save it as an image and insert it into a powerpoint or word document. if you created it on word or powerpoint, simply group the image.

Next you will need to copy the image from powerpoint/word

On Firefox!! Must be Firefox, go to your novel and right click and select paste. The sort cut ctrl+v will not work

@Maps that's what I do too!! As a creator, I understand the importance of likes and make it a point to like every chapter I read, even if it is to simply encourage the creator to not give up on their work.

Wow!!! That's actually a great idea. It would definitely encourage people to like more often. Thank you for listing the steps too. I'll probably do something similar on my books.

Personally, I have one book that has 90 subs and gets 10-12 likes per episode, and that's the highest ratio - and only because those 10 people are seriously hooked on it.

Well, having ten loyal readers is still a great feat! Congrats!! It could be possible that the rest of your subscribers are hooked too, only they are silent readers?

That's wonderful!! Having that many loyal readers is simply amazing, even if they do not always broadcast their loyalty to your series
