Hello, Tapas!
I'm developing a story that I'm thiiiinking about trying to tell in vertical/scrolling/webtoon format. While I'm still forming everything into a working shape, and sketching out designs/visdev, etc., I thought I'd start exploring some practical questions.
Generally I draw relatively small, just for fun and posting at my friends, without printing in mind. However, if I want to work on a whole-ass comic, I thought I should probably work at a size suitable for eventual printing, just in case.
So! ...May I ask what that size would be? =D
I've been looking at Tapas and Webtoon, and both of the file dimensions are less than 1000px, but that's posting, not working, and I'm pretty sure unsuitable for printing. I've heard conflicting things between 150 and 300 dpi for printing-suitable work? And I'm not sure how many inches wide I should aim for? I imagine if I were to ever print anything, the vertical-format panels would get re-worked into a classic comic page; I'm mostly worried about having a size that will comfortably fit across a printed page if it takes up the full width, as I don't anticipate having particularly tall shots.
I intend to use Procreate and/or CSP. One? Both? I know Procreate can limit layers depending on file size, so I'm not sure I'd be able to entirely finish my work on there, but that's what CSP is for.
Should I keep any specific resizing rules in mind if I wind up using patterns like halftones?
Thank you so much for your time looking at my thread.
I tried browsing a while back in both the Questions and Answered categories and didn't see anything similar to my questions! Hopefully these questions will help others looking for similar info as well!
