I'm considering getting some new software for my animatics. Windows Movie Maker is okay; I've used it since I was a kid, and it's fairly easy to use...but to be honest, it's kind of a pain in the neck sometimes.
You can't use GIFs, when you convert the GIFs to mp4's it randomly decides to delay the start time (?), it's reliant on the exact locations of all the files in your computer (so if you move something to a different folder, yer screwed) and I have no idea what kind of system it uses to time the files; if you try to remove a portion of your background music and/or replace it with something else, for instance, which is not a lot to ask, the other portions will all jump backwards and screw up the sound timing of the entire video, which you'll have to fix by hand, because of course they can't all just jump forwards together; that would make too much sense...
Long story short, it makes editing hell. ^^; I'm used to making up for its shortcomings by now, but I have a feeling there's something better out there.
