Idk Frankly I see a lot of people try to show off their own stuff and never give much mind to the work of others. Not saying that's you but rather it could explain why you didn't get much attention.

that too.

but yeah, one thing i really like doing is cameos, i have a backlog of cameos i need to do :stuck_out_tongue:

the thread i did was somewhat similar to the Cross Promo thread where you post your series and ppl can pick you as a cameo for one in return and stuff

Might have just been the aspect where they gotta commit to it to? That seems to scare off a lot of people ahaha

Me: -returns to this thread after a whole Sunday away from the computer.-
Me: -reads everything-

Regarding all the new posts (including the ones people are worried might be straying from the topic)

I'm just gonna add on to my own thread here but:

I think it's unfortunate that the site revamp coincided with the covid19 pandemic.
I really think this world event is obfuscating performance numbers as people the world over are having their lives disrupted.

And yeah, since more people are being forced inside, supposedly there should be an increase in views and engagement with webcomics and webnovels, but I don't think so from what I've observed. People on social media I've noticed are diving into video games and binging shows. I think they're craving a more reactive, human connection with moving visuals and sound.

Not to mention having the whole family at home can cut down on internet time, dealing with kids or partners and family members working from home.

And of course there's the worrying, and having to plan for self-isolation, shelter-in-place, lockdown, or loose quarantine. There's a considerable amount of logistical planning when one's freedom becomes limited, particularly if one's livelihood is put on hold.

If I may chime in on the topic of feature, I haven’t been featured, but I have been in trending and it did nothing significant for my numbers. In fact if we are looking from a business stand point my most successful advertising has been talking to people in person about my comic. They feel more connected to me and are more likely to support me.

Sometimes we have to rethink our business plan, and if platforms like tapas are not giving us what we need then why focus on them? Why advertise their site for them? I love my readers and will continue to update here, but I am more and more looking into traditional publishing. There are other avenues than just tapas to get your name out there.

I have applied to tons of awards, grants and competition. I have put my tapas webcomic as second so I can focus on what might be more profitable. And how did I learn about these grants and other opportunities? By connecting with others in the business. Other artist trying to make it, and artist who have already made it. I have found the webcomic community for the most part to be very supportive of one another. We can all find success but that doesn’t mean we will find it in the same way, and if you want your art to be your business, there is no shame in shifting gears if you are not getting the return you want.

This would be a really difficult thing to do (one of the most difficult routes) - especially considering that the economy has just crashed worldwide. Just 'going trad' is one possible option, but for many of us, it's a far less LIKELY option than it is to build a patreon platform - or even to build a platform on our own websites even.

That’s true, I am simply saying that if you have been working one angle for years and aren’t seeing the results you want, there is no shame in redirecting yourself. Just food for thought, and not communicating with people that have walked the road before you can make you feel stuck. When in truth there are many path and possibilities and people willing to share their experience, but you will never know that, or maybe you will never find the best path for you, if you isolate people that have “made it”.

Nah. I’m just interested in getting things going with Tapas, getting more series into Premium and continuing to build my Patreon. For me, things are going well, but there’s been a decline due to site changes. For me, the business model is unlikely to change, more likely just the platforms.

I’m just not interested in trad as it stands, as it’s far less immediate for cash flow which will be the biggest concern over the next few months.

And there is no shame in that either. Either way tapas is a great platform.

Well, I consider myself a Tapas veteran and I must admit that from 2016 I kind of fled the Tapas scene as I saw that I would never reach that front page.

I focused on Steemit (now Hive) a blogging site powered by a blockchain that had almost no comics and gave crypto currency rewards back to contributors. It felt more rewarding and achievable honestly.

I recently adapted to blogging platform specifically for comics and novels so if anyone wants to give it a try it's https://inkito.io7

For the moment I chose to mix new comics and trendy comics on the front page to give a chance to everyone. I'm sure that I'll encounter similar issues than Tapas once I get more users.

There must be a way to tackle this issue in a fair way! I'll try to figure it out.

I really feel like one or another mod will give you a notice you for all these ads and #6 of forum Guidelines ^^

Oh really? I don't want to cause any trouble.
Just looking for some feedback. I'm proud of what I built and want to tell the world.
I'll stop now I promise

Why put comics on the blockchain though? Is it not a lot of duplication of effort?

I see your point. It's just another way to host your content but there no censorship and a reward pool of crypto currency is shared among all content created every day. So you get a little reward.

Comics are not well represented as it has been mostly blog until now.
