Ryan — Róis is a young woman living just outside in the kingdom of Saoirse. Having been orphaned as a child, Róis and her twin brother, Ryan, were brought up by a famous knight, Clodovicus. While Ryan is the technical head of Róis household he has been bedridden for years due to a plague, causing Róis to be his caretaker, and the breadwinner. When Ryan's condition suddenly takes a turn for the worst, her master missing, and loan sharks coming for their payment, Róis has nowhere to turn and nó one to ask for help. Their was no way that she, an unmarried female, could ever come up with enough money to both pay off the loan sharks, and get the medicine to help her brother. Right when Róis goes to sell herself to get the money, she remembers a story her master had told her of a great knight. And that gave her an idea.
Masquerading as her brother, Róis leaves her brother in a close friend's hand and ventures off to the Knight Headquarters near the center of Saoirse, aiming to become a knight.
