I'm looking for recommendations for webcomics that have strong female leads that you really like. I'd be interested in why you like the comic, and what makes the character strong. I really want to read some webcomics so I can add a shout out to those comics in our "Women in Comics" panel me and a few others are doing at PCC next year.

Suggestions for comics?

My own comic focuses manly on female heroes and villains: https://tapastic.com/series/magicadvisor218
I try to make my characters independent and strong but also flawed.

For other comics I like: https://tapastic.com/series/The-story-of-Osram318
Really badass female lead smile And I like how it does not follow typical gender roles when it comes to the romance (or implied romance) smile

This one: https://tapastic.com/series/spejs76 has a very diverse cast with many different types of female that are all very confident and strong.

I will probably add more to this list tomorrow smile

I'd recommend the following:
- Dakota Neon Rabbit148
- Apricot Apricot Cookies64
- Miara Dragon Chapel53
- Mary Voidchild55
- Jelly Devil's Necktie66
- Aurora Endless Night189

Rather than repeat myself often by summarizing all of these leads, these females have their own (and sometimes share) qualities that I really admire. Humour is a really big factor for me, such as Aurora (Endless Night), Apricot (Apricot Cookies) and Jelly (Devil's Necktie), to an unshakable determination, such as Dakota (Neon Rabbit), Miara (Dragon Chapel) and Mary (Voidchild). Most of them have a high degree of independence, wit, cunning, and confidence in their actions. They also vary in interesting character types, such as a girl who can teleport because she was hit on the head with a (space?) rock (Dakota), a magical girl who can't transform (Apricot), a cherub angel on a mission to deliver a dragon egg (Miara), a mystery woman with glowing blue eyes trying to find out where she came from (Mary), a girl bound by life to her sentient necktie (Jelly), and a smart ass ghost hunter (Aurora).

Comicide18, Nocturne30 and Property of Hate22 have female leads who all are well developed and likeable.

Welcome Back Series34 is my comic and has a female lead for the first comic who kinda starts off cruel and heartless and evolves into a more compassionate character but still maintains her sass and hard temperment. The sequel is has multiple main characters but has multiple female leads as well all with different personalities.

I really love the female leads in #Wafflefry23— Spencer is an especial fave. And although Anarchy Dreamers19 is too complex for me to follow, it has some really diverse and relatable female leads that I've always loved.

If I may be so bold, I would suggest mine smile It's called The Green-Eyed Sniper44. It's a sci-fi story with much drama and some humor, and it has an all-female cast. Even the robot is female!

I believe my characters are deep, complex and quite unique. They are all flawed, but each of them has a very unique personality and none of them exist as an eye candy for the straight male crowd. The leads are very different from each other: one is a very honest person, a nurse with a secret life as an assassin of untouchable criminals and a strong love for justice; and the other one is a conflicted, odd, unpredictable war criminal. A third character is a very peaceful girl who hates violence, but is manipulative and passive-aggressive. You should also watch out for the robot, she's sassy, smart and fun - but there's something disturbing about her, as if she had the power of controlling her own master's life, to some extent.

As for the story itself: it starts in the middle of action, and turns into a series of unpredictable events with tight dialog between the characters. It takes place in a world torn by war, in a parallel universe where ancient Egypt remained extremely powerful for much longer than in ours, to the point that signs are written in hieroglyphs!

I hope you'll enjoy it smile

Your Worst Nightmare44 - Mischa's one cheeky redhead.
Dead End28 - Neely's a badass. While she is technically agender, she does prefer "they/them" or feminine pronouns. Hope that counts.
Woo Hoo!21 - Jolee is fun, bubbly, and has a heart of gold.
Myth of Eustro20 - It's got two really great female characters, Romona and Cid. Romona's like a shonen protag and Cid's the cool mysterious character.
Curse of the Eel19 - Connie is goth and awesome, no need to say anymore.
You Suck52 - There's a lot of NSFW in this so be warned. It's raunchy and unapologetic, and Anna takes no shit.

My favorite is livNPC19. It's a drama with three female leads. Ivy is learning how to be a leader and stand up for herself, Flora is relearning how to trust after a painful betrayl, and the main POV female of the three, Marie, is finding new strength to fight, while reevaulating her definition of peace. The three girls do have male counter-parts, but what I love most about the story is how they never actively try to hold them back and all of their relationships are mostly non-sexual. The series is finished and it's pretty long.

Humour me41 The main character, Charlie is a very sassy and strong girl.
Big Jo16 Definitely, although this comic is now in LINE Webtoons :/

Mine, Be Brave11, is about a girl who overpass a case of bullying, does that count? XDD

I feel bad, I can only think of two that haven't already been suggested (and they're not on tapastic):

'Damsels Don't Wear Glasses59' - A sort of modern fantasy about a buff chick named Lave who works as a piece keeper between supernatural and non-supernatural beings.
I like Lave because of her not very traditional, loud, sort of "dude-bro" personality. Also you don't see that many muscular chicks in media.

'Shattered Starlight22' - A magical girl comic about an ex-leader who loses her job and is reassigned to work at a cafe.
There isn't a whole lot to this one yet but like Lave, the main character. Farah Shaughnessy isn't a super girly female character. She's sort of grumpy, serious and rather straight forward, which is kinda nice.

Huh, there's sort of a trend with me liking non-girly chicks...

As always, Goodbye to Halos!24 I like it because it hits on the deep emotional connection between friends really powerfully while still being a sweet and optimistic comic. I think Fenic is strong because she cares for her friends, won't let others define her, and wants to show love to everyone, which is honestly the bravest thing in the world to do.

My comic, “The Archer and the Squirrel” has a female lead, and I’d consider it a feminist work. This fairytale tells the story of Lark, a young woman and skilled archer, living in medieval England. When her family is in financial need, she travels to a nearby kingdom in hopes of collecting a reward offered for capturing a “magical” white squirrel. During her search, she comes to learn more about the kingdom’s secret workings and begins to question her values and goals. This is a lighthearted story, suitable for all ages and lgbtq.
