oh no

oof ow please no

i literally just signed in for the first time since the update and i did not need this today lol

it literally looks like SmackJeeves rn which is not good because like literally half of SJ's vets left after its latest redesign (bright side tho, forums are still here /knocks on wood)

I would have my own website again if I had enough motivation to learn how to design my own website. I've had my own websites in the past but they always come out looking like ass. Guess it's time to start heckling my web designer pals.

but yeah this is really bad, and I've been through like 3 rebrandings/redesigns since I joined in like, 2012/2013. Easily the worst by far. Come on guys, get it together.

WHERE'S MUH PROFILE FAM

also yeah like guess i can't just view pages before they go up now, that's sweeeeellllll

Hi, umm....Where do I see how many likes my pages have? I can't find it anywhere?

oh thanks, I totally didn't notice that.

sigh, it's been 1 day and I miss tapas...

All this panicking had us forget half of the features, lol. It took me a second to remember as well :stuck_out_tongue:
Oh yesh, thankfully they didn't. I need my stats. Else I die.

I'm also curious what 'all' is based on. Maybe random comics?

This is SUPER unrelated and I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but the morning cup of Pepsi really threw me and it made me smile, so thanks

I can't view my unpublished/scheduled comics to see if they look okay, it tells me they're "Coming Soon". There's a reason I used Tapas instead of Webtoons but now what's the difference?

Not going to repeat all of the points made, but I loved the old design way more.

RN I have the feeling I'm on Webtoons and I hate that feeling, tapas always looked way more comfy and inviting... where's my tapas yellow? Where's the Corporate Design? My eyes hurt because now there's too much white on each page x____x
Where's my episode side bar? Why do I have to click on every page to open up a menu? Etc...

Seriously, tapas, please fix this. You tampered with Rule #1: Never touch a running system...

For creators who don't want to read 260 post..
We're working on it. Please stay tuned!

Also Thank you all for the reporting/suggestions/feedback!

My partner spent 11 years as a developer in Silicon Valley for several different companies and had this to say as their thoughts as to why it got changed so drastically:

"It's nearing the end of the first quarter and there's probably a board meeting coming up regarding securing more funding. These board members are not users of the end products, they are usually just investors wanting to see a profit. As long as the they can be convinced that they will get something back from their investments, they'll continue to fund the project. They also want to see major differences between updates and the bigger the differences the better in their minds. They don't notice the smaller, smarter updates that have been done to make the product better, they just want BIGGER and SHINIER.

The developers, however, care a lot about what they're creating and quite often don't have a say. They have to implement changes that come from the top down, even if it's something that isn't actually possible to code, they still have to 'make it work'. They also have insane deadlines to meet for set release dates, which means coding errors can occur or things get left out until after the release date.

More than likely, things will not return to how they were. Some of the key features that creators like may be added back in, but the change is probably permanent. Until the next round of funding..."

Don't know if that helps anyone understand what's going on, but I thought a different view might be interseting to add. Personally, I think the new desktop version isn't very intuitive and, along with the need to change the thumbnails into book cover style art, seems to be a way to weed out a lot of creators by just making it too difficult to have their series seen.

Anyways, lots of love to the devs and the moderators here who are trying their best in this bad situation.

Ha! I had a friend who refused to be a nice/well mannered person till she got her morning Pepsi x3 thankfully she’d always have some in stock :stuck_out_tongue: unless someone drank the last bottle without telling her XD

"I'll make my own website! With black jack and hookers!"
Seriously though. The one thing I dont like too much is the trending section on my comics page.

I dont MIND the popular comics. Im sure they're quite good. But just keep them away from me, yeah? lol ^^' Its hard enough as it is to keep and get readers for my comic. And Im sure others feel the sameway..

my saying is "if it works, why chanching it?" ¬¬

i really hate this layout.... i can't find a thing! x__x

well, i know for a fact that the layout is set in stone, they wont change it back, that would be too easy

this is more infuriating than the mature ban on the app cause there before they were being secretive and wouldnt tell us fuck all... so why bother trying to reason with them

Thing is... if the investors want to secure their money, they shouldn't piss users off (who are the ones giving them their profits). If users are ok, why would they want things to change? Sure Tapas may had many things to work in, but this is just exasperating. You can't change everything in one night (to the detriment of users) and expect everything to go smoothly. If they don't want to listen to developers, at least they should listen to the people whom are paying for their service.

And as Deviantart, their are making the very same mistake of making the site responsive, like in mobile code. PC is a whole another different format. Thus, you can't arrange things the same way. It's wholly upsetting the ungodly huge images that don't fit in the screen, as if I were reading in a mobile screen (in theatre format). Like, no. A big NO.

I know moderators and developers are not the ones at fault, but the message needs to get to the ones in charge so they come into reason. They need to understand that if we are going to pay any cent for a service, we are the ones that need to be listened. Otherwise people will migrate to another friendlier place, as we have always done (just see how dead Tumblr is nowadays because the board members did as they pleased without asking their users before doing major changes).

Sorry for the rant, but I'm truly upset with this issue -__-

See, that's the thing about investors. They don't care about users or creators. They do not listen because they don't have to. Some of them probably don't even know what Tapas is other than something in their portfolio that they can profit from it. If the pitch is good and they are shown examples of how the site has changed and evolved, then they sign on the dotted line and open up the cash flow. There's a lot of competition for those dollars in the different tech companies.

The mods can bring up our concerns and some things may get fixed after the bugs are dealt with, but this is how things work in the tech industry. It's not nice, it's not fair, but it is what it is.
