Were there ever any webcomics that had insulted you directly?

It takes a lot to insult me because I know that writers are not out to do that most of the time. However, I have been insulted by ONE specific webcomic that passed off Christianity as idiocy or that Christian characters are always written in a way that they are hateful. I can understand writing the story so that it turns out demons and angels are not the way we thought they were, but to pass off my faith as a laughing stock or a mark of shame... that's insulting. And it's even worse when people think that because I am Christian it means I have a problem with the LGBT+ community. I don't. I don't even see them as sinful.

Not directly tho I do sometimes feel like I can relate more of the villainized "preppy"person who loves pink, sparkles, shopping, and reality TV more so then the anti-social geeky protagonist who wears only hoodies and listens to goth/emo.

Oh gosh, I know how you feel on that matter greatly. I have seen that in another web comic, which is more, "you are stupid and dumb for believing in the sky wizard" level of insults and every christian was either a complete bigot or idiot who just needed "conversion". I'm not saying Christianity or its members cant be criticized(trust me I have sooooo many complaints on the catholic church and some of its bullshit). But dude there's not need for that, Alot of modern Christians dont have any problem with the LGBT community and some are themselves LGBT. Like no need for play ground level insults.

not a webcomic, but a week or two ago i got into an lgbt audiobook and was really impressed with the amount of care and research put into the different sexualities and topics handled in the book- right up until we got to the bi character. literally every bad stereotype about bi people packed into one character- cheats on her girlfriend with a man, doesnt care about practicing safe sex (and is later treated like she was swarming with std's), sex-obsessed and cheated because she wasnt having enough of it, et cetera. it was actually so jarring as a bi person how horrible this character was portrayed in comparison to the other lgbt+ characters that it felt like the author was trying to reach through the book and punch me in the face.

the author tried to remedy this in the second book i guess by revealing that one of the characters from the first book is bi which i appreciate but still... like how do you miss that bad?

I know, right? I can imagine some people had bad experiences, but it's not right to hate on an entire group because of what some of the bad eggs did.

For shits and giggles i've read nsfw comics trying to sell themselves for "deep lore and riveting plot™"... it was an insult to my intelligence, my soul and everything sane and holy.

Wait, Freakangels? As in Warren Ellis Freakangels?

Yeah. Written by Warren Ellis (one of my faves, I got my copy of Nextwave signed by him!), drawn by Paul Duffield (an old UK comics scene buddy). Seems like Ellis left the publisher and they've taken down the comic or something, which sucks.

It's a real thing that bi people get excluded by both lgbt and straight people over those stereotypes since they can "blend in" better and it just derails into something disgusting. As the joke constantly goes, B usually stands for anything else to some people, just like the concept of a "gold star lesbian" going from a joke to actual requirement to some.
