I'd always be a vampire. I'm kind of a huge enthusiast of vampire legend and story, and a lot of the time, people don't know or think about the fuller extent of their powers, even in only singular sources.
Vampires are not traditionally harmed by sunlight, by the way; that's a largely Hollywood invention from the 20th century that was a plot device in a film. One of the earliest pieces of what can be called vampire-related fiction, 'Carmilla', depicted the more common condition of a vampire looking sickly and being less energetic during the daylight hours, being unable to use most of their supernatural powers, and generally not enjoying the daylight. Even Dracula did not generally have sunlight as the disastrous bane of vampires as people seem to assume these days.
I'm already mostly nocturnal in habit and lifestyle anyway though, so it wouldn't bother me. The many other abilities of the vampire, such as controlling animals, turning into most creatures of the night (including wolves), and transforming into mist and other substances would seem to make vampires even a natural choice for those who like the transformative qualities of the werewolf. Keeping in mind, too, that lycanthropy is more often the result of a curse, whereas vampirism is generally seen as a dark gift...controversial, and hated by some, but until we reached the whinier modern age of vampires, most vampires were pretty fond of being one.
So...team vampire for me!
