Hey, thanks for getting in touch! No, I never signed with them. I was meaning to go over the contract with my writer first to make sure I don't miss anything dodgy in there (and there were a couple of things i wasn't sold on), but we never got around to it. Looks like we dodged a bullet. Sucks to …

I find it all really depends on a convention and footfall! At London MCM I easily sell 50 copies of each issue I bring, especially if it's fairly new. Smaller cons bring less cash, but again, some have really friendly crowds so you never know. Ordering is tricky. My first print run of my very first …

I've been using a pseudonym for my comic work and it worked out fine, so it's really not hard to maintain anonymity with this stuff? It's not like the comic shop is gonna ID you and tell everyone your real name. If anything, I have the opposite problem - I've been meaning to start working under my …

Obligatory plug for Comic Printing UK  Good for comic/non-standard sizes and finishes, great communication in general (probably helpful if you're starting out) Best to make sure you're not sending stuff to print just before a big convention though, as I've had issues w defects when they get super bu…

I sell locally! The previous town i lived in had a tiny comic shop and they had a sell or return policy, meaning you'd get paid after the books have sold. They sold pretty ok there and I did get a few payouts from that (plus, being a small comic shop he took a very small percentage) I've just sold t…

If you're ok with flat and simple colours, then it is possible - If you make sure your scans are clean you can use a paintbucket tool in photoshop. It does take up a lot of time though. Clip Studio has a more convenient paint bucket tool that actually closes gaps for you so I recommend trying that smile

Welp, I wrote them an email with some questions. If they agree to promote my website/patreon while translation my comic at no cost, why not, i suppose? At the same time it's hard to believe they'd pick my comic for the Japanese audience, as it's incredibly niche and probably hard to adapt for them. …

Thanks! I might have chat with them some more smile The reason I got concerned about the manga thing is because the person contacting me wasn't Japanese, and with most webcomics up on that website being manga already, I was concerned it might just be automated spam or something. We'll see, though!

I'm sure many of us are getting solicitations from digital comic app/distributors these days. Well, today I got an email from mangax.jp offering to translate my comic into Japanese and post it on their site. I am a little concerned as the website doesn't look super legit (Awesome English Punchline? …

People getting annoyed at everything on Tapastic is why I hardly ever post any updates on here. I'd rather post my livestream announcements on my social media where people actually want to see them :/ Everyone on here's reading hundreds of comics so I can see why constant spam would get annoying, th…

Drugs & Wires features a former VR tripper who's now recovering/struggling with drug addiction. So yes, things get trippy every now and then. There's also a prequel which is basically a gif-animated fever dream.

Been using Blambot's Hundred Watt font for Drugs & Wires. Seemed appropriately messy and grungy for the comic, especially with the earlier pages. [image]

on Tap, I post extra comics in a separate series. we'll occasionally put extras in-between chapters and I submitted a New Year pic into main series recently, but I try not to do it too often, especially since our page list is getting pretty long already. I also find that our Tapastic readership is m…

Somehow this panel remains to be my favourite rendition of our Dan from Drugs & Wires [image] Though I usually have a lot of trouble drawing him. It's a struggle :I

I don't get it. You don't write, don't draw and don't pay, what are you offering exactly? A middleman?...

We don't have a trailer per se, but we did a little patreon video with our characters presenting it smiley

The winners - for I dearly hope there will be many - will have their art included in the book or short story from which they drew their inspiration. Your art will be available for all to see, an integral part of my experiment forevermore. You will be, my gentle readers, published artists. I agree…

I was in the same boat as you, studying illustration, making barely any money off my shitty deviantart commissions and wonder how they hell I'm gonna make it smile So in the end I switched to studying 3D modelling and have been working in games for a few years now. The good: I have the cash for conve…

Man, I had a lot of those as a kid. And yet somehow I still kept watching them! I know everyone admires Ren & Stimpy for its animation/inventiveness, and as much as I respect it, I could never watch the damn thing. It was just too gross. I also had a thing about CatDog, there was this one ep about t…

I occasionally use 3D models to draw complicated objects I don't have much experience in and some exteriors - it happens, you can't be immediately good at a thing you've never drawn before and with the time constraints comic making comes with, nothing wrong with getting some help. It is good to p…

I can find the time for an occasional doodle (not because I have time to spare, but because I can't help myself), but decent extra art/promo art is definitely hard to fit into a weekly update schedule. We usually go on a hiatus after each chapter just to have a breather and work on some extra bits f…

I do hate flatting and I did contemplate doing a B&W/grayscale comic, but colour is crucial for me. I like playing around with the lighting and mood in my pages, and since I don't do many black shadows in my inking, all of it falls onto colouring. I change my colour pallettes pretty much every time …

Omg yes! Erowid's been super helpful for me, too. I've read so many terrible and wonderful things on there, I could make a whole new comic out of it.

There's a place in London that does it. Can't remember the name anymore, it's been a few years :0

I look up and research lots of stuff on regular basis, but in terms of actually doing something for research - there's one thing: I went into a sensory deprivation tank as I wanted it to be one of my comic's virtual reality techniques. In the end I just panicked and had a really bad time in there (a…

Welp, our protagonist Dan is a drug enthusiast and A MESS if you're interested stuck_out_tongue [image] [image] Dunno about nudity, but everything else is probably fair game. He's already embarassed himself enough in the actual comic.

Yeah, we definitely had to adapt to make our comic suitable for print. I started doing conventions a couple of years ago, and I got addicted to the whole process of printing my work and meeting fans in the real world and actually experiencing the comic culture outside of the screen - especially aft…

I've done this a few years back with the Drugs & Wires cast! Normal: [image] Genderbended: [image]

I think A Softer World does something similar to what you're looking for? But yeah, it all depends on the execution, never know until you try
