Oddly enough, the first comic I ever read was Fruits Basket (by Natsuki Takaya) when I was 11. Got into manga for a few years after that. The art was not an inspiration so much as the medium itself. I wasn't great at writing everything out to tell a story, and I really enjoyed drawing. So the possibility of storytelling in this way was such a magical concept to me.
Most of my art and storytelling inspirations don't come from comics, though. (However, having been into Carciphona at one point, it made me realize I could make a comic myself. That was particularly impactful.)
Some artists throughout my life that have inspired me:
Amy Brown, Brian Fraud, Alan Lee, John Howe, Yoshitaka Amano, Range Murata, Magdalena Kania (Meago),Wayne Barlowe, Soroush Barazesh (Koteri Ink), Omar Dogan, Rose Besch, Shinkiro (from Capcom), Senri Kita (artist for Fire Emblem Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn), and Kaneoya Sachiko.
